Before we processed this project, we hadn’t any chance to contact with foundation or organization. We were interested in Art Carnival Activities; therefore ,we wanted to recognize the planner of Art Carnival Activities, The Dream Community Cultural and Educational Development Foundation. After have been processing research , we are no longer just to know from the news , newspapers or magazines what foundations are, but to participate in the Foundation's activities ,experience and strategies of visiting community residents.
We also interview the founder of foundation, Mr. Cong-ming, Tsai (Mr. Gordon Tsai) ;the Chief planning director of Dream Carnival, Miss Ying-qi Ho; the Artists staying in the community, Hollander Storytelling Artists Annemiek Funneman and Christiaan Bloem; the assistant planner in Neihu District, Mr. Fang-xiong Zhang etc. Consequently, we realized that there are so many people devoted silently and selflessly in enhancing cultural development. It has only touched deeply our heart ,but also let us know the importance of community consciousness .This project is really a very good research theme.
Although we ran into many frustrations and hard worked in the process, we cheered each other to overcome the difficulties and in order to achieve our goal. It lets us have a great sense of accomplishment! We were very grateful to receive so many cordial and friendly people to help, also thanked our teachers and parents to help us. No matter what joys and sorrows of all activities in the process of research, we have the numerous harvest in learning!
By this research project, we finally found that there was a great meaning behind a carnival parade with much flourish. When participating in activities and processing interviews, we also found that promote "cultural development" was not really an easy thing to do. It made a big effort to do, but there may not be a visible effect immediately, or even someone called in question and opposed . So everyone should respect and appreciate the facilitators of cultural development.
During participating in the research, we have not only learned knowledge far more than class classmates, but also learn to "take advantage of the time". This is a valuable opportunity for someone that he is able to learn so many things in same time at the school ; however , his performance isn’t influenced. We were also benefited from the learning strategies which teachers taught. It let us learn to how to use the KWL method and how to collect information and summarizing the focus which we want. It was a great helpful method for us to collect and organize data, and how to absorb large amounts of data, and contextualize pieces of data into relevant passages. It also effected improvement in our writing skills due to the frequency by which we were required to do.
Furthermore, we also have learned “Unity is strength” because we did our efforts to achieve gradually a seemingly impossible task at the beginning, and we made unremitting efforts and presented the most perfect results within a tight time. We highly appreciated for teachers’ instructions because they provided a wonderful chance to learn more knowledge beyond the textbooks in such busy studies.
In conclusion, the biggest harvest from the experience of the six months research is we know that a lot of people are willing to pay their efforts for this society and we never observe and think earnestly before! It strikes us not only to understand that "cultural development" is not really easy, but also to know that y "the economic interest of development" is not the best development way for the communities! We also understand that to build a depth of culture community development requires not only money, manpower, but also to have "Passionate People” to participate for the continuation of the cultural heritage. |
