Q:How did you get to know about the Culture in the Alley activity? How many times has it been held in Kaiming Neighbourhood?

A:I knew a member of the TCOCO.  After being introduced to the members and reading about them on the Internet, I was very interested.  They have played in Kaiming four times.

Q:Why did you want to hold the Culture in the Alley event in the Kaiming Neighbourhood?

A:Because music cultivates spirituality and helps people to have a better understanding of it.

Q:Before the performances, how do you let the community know about them?

A:We put up poster and make announcements.

Q:Do you let other communities know about the upcoming performances?

A:We have no objections to other communities attending the performances.

Q:What do you think is different about the TCOCO’s perfomances? What’s your most memorable performance or song?

A: Their performances was excellent and always.

Q:After this performance, do you still want them to come back and play again? Is there anything you’d like to see them do differnetly?

A: Yes! We’d love for them to come back.

Q:The TCOCO are plasying in the National Concert Hall on 12/16, could say some words of encourgement?

A:We’ve asked them to play for us four times and they always perform brilliantly.  I hope they can come back to Kaiming Neighbourhood and other communities in Taipei to let even more people appreciate their performances.

Reaction

I was responsible for the interview with the neighborhood magistrate in the community concert. It certainly made me a little nervous. However, since I have had a few experiences already, I was less nervous than I expected when I was doing the interview. However, I did learn that we , as interviewers, should be very careful with the questions we formulated, as sometimes it can be confusing if we ask questions which are not logical or clear enough to the interviewees. In other words, we have to really “think” about how this interview will go on beforehand. I also found out that during an interview, the interviewer’s witty reaction is very important. It’s definitely a challenge as well as my pleasure to interview the neighborhood magistrate today. I really appreciated this opportunity.

For today’s activity I interviewed the neighborhood head of the Kai-Ming district, Mr. Chen Wei-Dien, and vocalist and spokesperson for TCOCO, Ms. Yang. Because I was too nervous, I forgot to introduce myself. This interview helped me to understand that when I’m visiting someone, I shouldn’t be nervous and I need to remember my manners. During the interview I found out that the citizens in Kaiming likes to watch TCOCO’s show and every time there are more than 200 people who come to see their show.
