Make a wish(Ling-Jhou)

Foreword
We had deeply understood Hsu Sheng-Ming’s spirit from documents and interviews with his friends and relatives. Although we are not baseball player, we still want to experience “Knuckleball”. Simultaneously, we want to share Coach Hsu’s spirit by promotion, so we initiate two activities.

Make Bodhi bookmark

Part one: (Poor, time-consuming)
Ingredients: fresh Bodhi leaves, baking soda, gas, pots, and chopsticks.
Method:

  1. Heating Bodhi leaves with soda water till Mesophyll and leaves vein separated.
  2. Flushing the boiled leaves, scrap mesophyll out with brush.

Experimental Results:
(1) Finished producsts are not pretty, and the process is very laborious.
(2)We decided do it again in the other way.

Part two: (The effect is very good, and effort, but smelly.)

Ingredients: Two large bins, fresh Bodhi leaves, and water.
Method:

  1. Soaking Bodhi leaves in water from the lotus pond for two weeks.
  2. After two weeks, Mesophyll decayed naturally. We can easily wash mesophyll out by flushing.

Experimental Results:
Mesophyll easily fell off, and finished products are pretty but very smelly. After drying them, we added some deodorant to eliminate the smell. This way is convenient and the products are beautiful!

Part three: (Stick colored paper on every Bodhi leaf)
We sticked colored paper on every Bodhi bookmark, offering people to sign on it, and then we sticked them on a poster of the baseball angel, Hsu Sheng-Ming.

Students’ experience

<Jung Hsien>
Today we made Bodhi bookmark with brushes, putting finished products in the box. We learned a lesson from the first try. We had better works in the second try. However, it is smelly, so we did the work with mask.
<Chia Chen>
In the beginning, we used various Bodhi models, cutting in pages of bookmarks. Then we brushed the leaves, soaking in water to let them rot. After leaves had rotted, we brushed them. Wow, it is smelly. Finally, we finished the work by sticking paper leaves and veins together.
