Brief introduction of Hsu Shan Ming
Hsu Shan Ming(1958/9/11~2013/8/24) was born in Meinong as Hakka and graduated from Chinese Culture University and Korea Central University Research Institute. He was The first head baseball coach with a master degree in Taiwan. He had devoted his whole life to baseball, as he had been a baseball player since he was an elementary student. He had joined Taiwan Little and Senior Leuge Baseball and played in the university.
As a pitcher, knuckleball was his best weapon. After retiring from being a player, he became a head coach in Wei Chuan Dragons and EDA Rhinos Baseball Team. He won 715 games in his coach life and it is the highest record in history of Chinese Professional Baseball League.
On August 24, 2013, he passed away at the age of 55 due to a heart attack. To hornor him Team EDA-RHINOS retired his number 85. Sports Administration, Ministry of Education awarded him “2013 Elite Lifetime Achievement Award” on December 18, 2013. He was the first expelled coach in Taiwan baseball history. Although he was extremely controversial in Taiwan, he got many supports from fans. He is called “Magician” and “Coach Hsu”.
