Introduction
Takaobooks is the first bookstore that focuses on cultural documentary, performance are, and life style books in Kaohsiung. The house is a fine example of the post-war buildings in Kaohsiung. It was a guava orchard in the past. After Chung Chang Road had been constructed, it was the first one built in this area. The construction was similar to Takao Association.

Takaobooks holds the activities about movie, music, exhibition, and travel regularly. The local expert will select some books for further reading to promote Kaohsiung’s local stories.

Takaobooks collects the products and books related to Kaohsiung to become a place for interaction. It’s like a window for people to know the content of Kaohsiung’s culture. It’s the important place to have cultural interaction.

Transformation of the shop.
In 1960, Chung Chang Rd became the important road which crossed from the east to the west. The shore is at Chung-Chang Rd NO.214. It is the first 3-floor building. You can tell the house owner’s engineering background from the construction. Two coconut trees in the yard have existed before the construction of the house, they has the history of more than 50 years.

Before Chung-Chang Rd was constructed, it was a guava orchard. After 50 years, only an old scale remains to prove the existence of the orchard. Although there is much dust on it, it is the witness of Kaohsiung’s history.
