Introduction
Where does the name of Hamasen come from?
"Hamasen" was originally a harbor. After the Japanese completed land reclamation in their colonial period, it was formed as the first modern Kaohsiung community.
"Hamasen" is named from the Japanese pronunciation: Hamasen, which means the waterfront line because there were two local coastal railways. It’s called Ha-ma –sing in Taiwanese.
