Introduction: Animal Shelter provides citizens services to consult, and adopt animals. It helps civic animal groups to take and manage the abandoned animals. Citizens can also inspect the human-animal infectious diseases for cats, dogs and pets here to make sure the owner and the pets are both healthy.Q: Why do you want to become a vet?A: Because I love animals since I was a kid.
Q: How long have you become a vet?A: I have been a vet for 8 years.
Q: What do you think about being a vet for so many years?A: I think that being a vet is kind of fun, because I can contact with a lot of animals.
Q: What’s your first impression when you get in touch with a cat?A: Wow, it is so distance, and ferocious.
Q: Have you changed your opinions toward cats through your career?A: Yeah, sure. Thought lots of cats are very ferocious, but I do meet some intimate cats which lightly rub along your feet. Gradually I find out that cats can be no less intimate than dogs.
Q: Among all the treatments, is there anything impressive for you?
A: There was once a cat got stuck in a bladed wire meshes and he’s badly injured. It’s mutilated beyond recognition. When I first saw it, I could hardly convince myself that he could make it through. That was a tough case because it had lost plenty of blood.
Then I decided
to give it a try. I injected tranquilizer into it, and untied it from the meshes. Unfortunately, after untying, I found out the latter part of its legs were so ill wounded that one leg had to be amputated or it got not chance to survive.
I did the amputation for it. Of course, it had become a cat with three legs, but it got better smoothly. We helped remedy its healthy problems and did some health check and it was quite ok. We then put it on the adoption meeting. Amazingly, it was adopted right away. I feel very glad about this. It means that the people in Taiwan actually can accept those defected animals. It is one of the cases that impress me most.
Q: What do you think about those people who desert their cats?
A: If the pet owner just desert his cat on the streets, I personally think he’s very cruel and mean. He is not a responsible owner. The least thing he can do is send his cat here and go through the formal abandon procedure. There will be a little fee charged, but the cat’s life won’t be threatened and endangered.
Q: What will you do if the strayed cats are not adopted in the animal shelter?
A: If nobody adopts the cat in 12 days, the cat will be sent to proceed TNR by volunteers, and it will be released back to the originally captured area.
Some people will find cats noisy. If that happens and the cat is captured and sent to the animal shelter again, we will release it to other areas.
Q: What kind of conditions should a person keep if he wants to adopt a cat?
A: This person has to be above 20.
Q: What kind of circumstance is the best for breeding a cat?
A: Cats do not like moist circumstance, so just keep it dry and clean.
Q: Can you simply tell us the habitual behavior of cats and what should we notice?
A: Compared to dogs, cats are not that passionate. A cat has its own personality and temper. Cats are sensitive and clean.
