In the week after Pan-Pan's presentation, we used the grade four and five students' computer class time to do a survey. We hoped that through this survey, we could see how much the students had learned from the presentation, and also see if it had sparked an interest in environmental protection within them.

[Pan-Pan's Activity Data]

Survey Date:11/22/2011~11/26/2011
Survey Location: Yu-Tsai Elementary School, Grade Four Classrooms and Computer Room

[Activities]

1.After Pan-Pan's presentation, we all used our lunch breaks to discuss the content of the survey.
2.We used computer class to do the survey after giving a brief explanation of the contents of the survey.
3.When our classmates were filling in the survey, we were on hand to make sure that there was nothing that they were unclear about.

Research Discoveries

+ [Research Discoveries] +

From this survey we have discovered that although a lot of our classmates already knew what a wetland was before Pan-Pan's presentation, only half had ever been to one. We also learned that many of the students didn't know about the Yung Ho Community University Eco-park that is located near our school. Even among those few who did know about the park, fewer still had actually visited it.
However, after listening to Pan-Pan's presentation the students began to have a further understanding and interest in the wetland areas.
Almost all of the students said that they would like to visit the park in the near future. Our fellow classmates are also beginning to care about these wetland areas, some said they would pass on their knowledge of wetlands to others, some said they were willing to help out at the park, and some even said that they wished they could become junior guides like us!
Our classmates were willing to give their all to conserve and protect the wetlands and they now understand the importance of this area. They also hope that in the future we will have more of these community-run ecological education parks in Yung Ho.
