Betel nuts can be made into many handmade works such as dolls, accessories and so forth. The core can also be made into as top. When it comes to the betel-nut leaf, it can be made into the grasshopper, or you can paint it with the beautiful patterns so that it becomes the most traditional fan. Children like to drag the betel-nut leaf as a trunk, What an environmental toy!

    First of all, crumple the play dough and shape it into the foot. Put and other part of the dough as hair. Make a hole on the bottom of the betel nut as a body. Use the dough to make it into the shoes and stick it to the foot with the glue. Finally, make a hat and stick it on the betel nut, if you want it more beautiful you can even make a skirt for the witches. It will be completed after you compose it and put it on the broom stick.

     The volunteers of school service taught us how to make  "betel-nut witches". They taught us every details in making the witches and with great patience as well. At the beginning, everybody seemed awkward, for example, Zhao-guang made his witch's legs into carrots, that made us laugh. Meanwhile, I-ting made a hair for her witch but it looked like a poo.  We all teased at her hair. When we were making the shoes, I-ting was proud of her fashionable high heels, but they looked really funny actually. When we were making the hat, it was easy to destroy the dough because it was too thin, we always asked teacher for help finally. Everybody has his or her own style to the betel-nut witches but the most important part is that learning with the partners can be so happy.

     Each group take a betel-nut leaf, let a student sit on the leaf; the others drag the leaf and run.  Divide all the students into two groups and compete with each other, to see which group dodge the obstacle and reach the goal.

    First, tear down the betel-nut leaf from the top to bottom then fold the vein and round it into two circles. Loop the vein and tight it. Repeat this action for three or four times, then cut the  bottom leaf as the tail,. the whole grasshopper will be completed.

    The tear tear down the leaves last week in advance, because the new leaves were too weak to get destroyed or broken during the process. We all thought it was an easy job to make the grasshoppers but when we were doing the work the leaves got broken easily. It seemed that the betel-nut leaves were so weak. Though the directions were not so complicated and always repeated, we still needed teacher's help to complete the grasshoppers in a short time. I thought our teacher may have had practiced it so many times at home. Practice makes perfect! After teacher's teaching for many times, we finally made up. Although they looked not so well, we knew one more children's toy in betel-nut leaves, and enjoyed in it so much.

    Just like coconuts, betel nuts can be made into many handmade accessories as well. Many of our parents have had the experience of rolling the betel-nut leaves to fit their mouth and blow as the trumpet.
