“Picturebook” is a book which is used a setof pictures to express a story or a storylike topic.
It will be more obvious if we see in
English. Picture Book means a book with
pictures and that’s a picturebook. If
there are pictures in the book, but those pictures have no connection with one
another. That is a Illustrated Book and
that’s an “Illustrated Book.” Take “Pinocchio”
for example, it is a very thick book with 20 pictures. It is not a picturebook but an illustrated
book.
After we have a broad definition, the first
concept of the picturebook will come out like the iceberg. That’s the “flow of pictures.” Because the picturebook is telling the story
with a set of pictures, it depends on the continous rhythem of the pictures
deciding the success or failure of the picturebook. If the picture has no connection, there is no
story at all.
