Homecare Providers

¡@ Currently the work performed by the volunteer and homecare workers varies widely. After our interviews the following was compiled:

¡@1.Physical Care:Helping the elderly people to bath, wash and cut their hair, massage and
¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@ lice removal.

¡@2.House Work:Helping them clean, cut grass, provide food and provide linen and
¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@ clothing

¡@3.Paper Work:Since the elderly people cannot write the volunteers help with writing
¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@ letters.
¡@
¡@4.Medical Care:Treating their wounds, rehabilitation, removal parasites, blood-pressure
¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@ monitoring and since their knees were often sore due to often climbing
¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@ mountains when younger, at times they needed treatments such as heat-
¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@ application.

¡@5.Psychological Leisure Services:The highest provided service and most favored by
¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@ the elderly people. If the elderly people were able then rather chat with
¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@ them, instead of doing their work or bathing them. They mostly live
¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@ alone or as couples, thus they feel lonely as their children often work
¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@ away from home and cannot care for them. Thus the volunteers help
¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@ them through chatting or playing with clay.
