☆★Building a Kids Heaven in Our Community - Happy Kids Weekend☆★ Happy Interview

A1 : We designed some activities for the children in our community in Happy Kids Weekend, including dramas, games, poems, and talks in which we can share our thoughts. All of these activities can bless children with happiness.

A2 : Children are the ones that we focus on. Some parents will bring younger kids with them to join in our activities. Parents usually sit in the back and watch the whole activity. We found that these parents also enjoy these activities, and always come with their children.

Q3 : Are there free activities for the children, teenagers, and adults in the community every year?

A3 : Yes, we would like to hold activities for children, teenagers, and also for the parents. In the same way, along with Happy Kid Weekend, we will have Happy Teenagers Weekend, and Happy Parents or Adult Weekend.

Q4 : Are there many enthusiastic people who donate useful items such as activities' stage properties or gifts for children at Christmas?

A4 : Generally, all the presents are prepared by our church, and all the stage properties for the activities are created by volunteers from our church.

A5 : The best reward I get is I feel younger with more love and patience. To give what is important is I know how to help the families in this community. I found many children, teenagers, and parents from this community have grown and gotten help both in their minds and souls.

A6 : If we want to love someone, what we need is true love, without this, you love the person dependent on your feelings and this love may disappear quickly as your mood changes. The key thing is there are all kinds of people with different thoughts in our community, we find this phenomena especially working with them. At this time, what you need is the love without termination, love with patience, that you can love them continuously, that is the reason our service to this community is based on the love of Jesus.

A7 : There is a group of people in our church who are enthusiastically motivated to help as many of people as possible. We are properly trained and have a plan that corporates our thoughts with love into helping others for a long period of time. It is with this match that we set up this church.

Q8 : We know there are a lot of volunteers in this church, do they devote themselves everyday without salary?

A8 : Yes, there are many volunteers that come to the church to help during the week days without salary. They join in the activities, make stage properties, and all kinds of trivial things. Sometimes, they bring materials or treat everyone with food by themselves improving the activities. We usually have a meeting after each activity with the foods and drinks donated by the volunteers, rather than from the church.

A9 : We believe that God loves us, and we can have a new life as long as we trust Jesus. Everyone has suffering or has had a terrible experiences in their life, and God has the power to change our lives and bless us a wonderful life. We found that everyone actually needs this kind of life and this is the purpose of setting up this church. We hope the love of Jesus can spread out and bless everyone.

Q10 : We know there are many teachers and volunteers in every activity, and by which way they come here and do the service?

A10: We have about 30 teachers and volunteers. Most of them are the long time members in our church. Some of them attended HKWs before and were teenagers who grow up in this church. In the beginning, the main volunteers were members who came from The Taipei East Christian Church (TECC). They supported and attended this activity with enthusiasm. Later, parents in this community would join in this activity. The best thing is all the teenagers who attended this activity before and came back with gratitude to help us, and that is why the numbers of volunteers and teachers has increased.

Q11 : There are many activities put on by HKW related to other celebrations such as Mother's day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and so on. How does your church interact with children in this community through these activities?

A11: We always focus on one personality during each activity, such as being brave, honest, love and so on. The topic of each activity depends on the characteristic. For example, the activities for Mother's day or on Father's day , were focused on the meaning of each holiday, we presented the characteristic with dramas, and show our beliefs to the parents. We think parents should take right place in children's mind, no matter how we judge them. We have to show our own obedience.

We teach children to have a correct view with a good attitude and treat parents with respect. We also wish our activities can help improve the atmosphere within each family in our community through both the children, and the parents. We aim our activities to help children build up good characters with the right values in order that they keep a proper relationship with each other. We also wish to improve the culture of our community by celebrating each of these holidays.

Q12 : There has been a period of time since you set up Happy Kids Weekend, what kind of role or function does this activity want to play in the future for the children in this community?

A12: It has been six years since we first set up Happy Kids Weekend, and we should always have a goal, rather than just saying be happy. Our goal is to change the whole community, called transformation. We hope Happy Kids Weekend could be a heaven in the community. We wish children can develop right attitudes and positive self esteems which can be shaped by this activity. As a result, children can treasure themselves even when they do wrong things, these are our thoughts. In conclusion, we anticipate Happy Kids Weekend will become a motivator and accelerate the change of this community.

Q13 : The members of cool girls have come to understand the spirit behind Happy Kids Weekend. What kind of attitude do you think we should have in order to investigate this activity?

A13 : Everyone can notice the attitude of others, but what is important is the mood we have in our minds. I think we should attend the activity with a glad mood, rather than an attitude to do a job. Do you understand what I mean? I really hope you can truly understand Happy Kids Weekend, and you will write not only what you think, but what you feel about it. You will write it with your heart, rather than your knowledge. So you have to devote yourselves, not pretend, to do this activity. When you have developed your own feelings for this activity, you will have your own harvest. So you should enjoy this activity with happy mood and right attitude, and cooperate with one another during the process. Do you understand? Be happy, enjoy it, and cooperate well, these are the three important attitudes you should keep.
