Research Motives
On April 15th, 2019, local time in France, there was a major fire in Notre Dame Cathedral. There were many works of art in it, and the entire church structure was damaged, even the most famous church in the entire church. The rose window was unable to escape the fire, creating a scene that could never be restored, and it made the local Parisians weep. Since the builders are no longer alive, however; these cultural sites need a long time to be repaired, and the world has begun to pay attention to the importance of cultural preservation. The occurrence of this incident makes us start thinking about how we can protect these cultures? Even the craftsmanship needs to be well preserved. The small town where we live, Lukang, is also a place with multiculturalism. "Flower Windows" is a very historical work. However, through the results of questionnaire surveys, most people do not understand the craftsmanship of flower windows, so it will take everyone to understand the information related to Flower Windows, thus this craft will not be lost.
Research Purposes
In the past, the craftwork of flower windows was very popular, and it was once favored by other countries. It was usually used as building materials for construction. However, with the change of the times, the rise of multiple materials, "Flower Windows'', this kind of work that is not easy to preserve, and it is no longer comparable to those that are both solid and diverse. However, this handmade and warm"Flower Windows"in Lukang Town still outperforms the cold and machine-made works in the hearts of people. The purpose of using this theme is to let everyone have a deeper understanding of this long-standing handicraft, and even to make the world see the true beauty of the "Flower Windows", so that it can stand on the stage of the world again.
