Project Description

Based on Yongan Fishing Harbor, we explored the related environmental issues in the neighborhood. People tend to recognize local cultural characteristics. However, most of the tourists do not have the ideas about environmental issues. Thus, by Yongan Fishing Harbor, we tried to introduce some critical impact. Thus, the tourists can recognize the ecological crisis.

Local Community

Yongan Fishing Harbor is located at the estuary of Shezi River in Hsinwu District, Taoyuan City. Many old fishing boats anchor by the harbor. In the distance, there is Yongan bridge crossing the harbor which is next to one fish market, with the variety of seafood that are fresh and delicious. By the sea, there is pavilion where the tourists can watch the view. Besides, there are many spots in the neighborhood.

Summary of Our Project

The project is based on Yongan Fishing Harbor and we explored the following: Jhongli Fishermen’s Association, the tourist spots in the neighborhood, environmental issues, introduction of the harbor and related questionnaire survey. From approachable perspective, we studied the marine culture and issue of Yongan Fishing Harbor

Our Computer and Internet Access

As to our online environment, we used the computers in the computer classroom of the school and the students’ computers at home. We searched for information during the class of the project, after school and on holidays to recognize the direction and approach the topic. We successively learned the codes and constructed the website. We modified the website according to the teachers’ suggestions. By google forms, we collected people’s opinions and ideas and developed the questionnaire. Network technology is omnipresent and our best tool.

Afterthoughts and goals

After this Cyberfair project, we learned to be efficient with teamwork. We realized that web page construction was difficult, from layout, form to the arrangement of places. However, with everyone’s cooperation, we accomplished the project. Fortunately, we were guided by the teachers and President of Taoyuan Ocean Hakka Leisure Agriculture Association. Thus, we successfully finished the project. By the visits, we discovered the things which were not shown on internet. Our goal was to introduce the history of Yongan Fishing Harbor to more tourists and non-local people and approach the beauty of nature.

Problems We Had to Overcome

Team members: Team members had different plans on holidays. Some had part-time job and some participated in the competition. Thus, it was extremely difficult to visit Yongan Fishing Harbor with all members. We could only be divided into groups. Some interviewed the people in Fishermen’s Association and some took photos of the tourist spots in the neighborhood. Thus, with appropriate work division, we could have equal workload.

Selection of topic: at the beginning, we had no ideas about the topic and thus we spent some time on selection. Finally, the topic was decided. However, the visit and interview depended on complicated procedure and examination. Thus, we changed the topic to Yongan Fishing Harbor.
