Chinese immigrants came to Taiwan

The temple was built in Japanese colonial period or KMT government period, but Guanyin religion has a longer history at Linkou.

To tell the story of Zhu-Lin-Shan Guanyin Temple, one has to start with immigrants from “Qaunzhou Sam-Yi”. What is “Sam-Yi”? “Yi” refers to city. Quanzhou had three cities, Nanan, Hueian and Jinjiang, people from there gathered into a group. They have communication with people from Anxi, but they were enemies with people from Tonan, Quanzhou.

At that time, people from Sam-Yi have their own religion. An ancient temple in Antai town, Jinjiang called Longshan Temple was their center of religion. When confronting difficulties, people lived in these three places went praying to the gods, for this is their important and pious spiritual sustenance.

When the immigrants came to Taiwan from China, they faced many problems and challenges regarding cultivating new lands. They discovered that they can pray to gods for their safety and well-being. So, when they came to Taiwan by boat, they brought several bodhisattva figures from Longshan Temple in Anhai.
