Famed For Red Rice

The wise man Huang Chunqing and other individuals introduced the Anka from China as new raw material. In 1911, they founded a winery to make wine to sell throughout the whole country. This is the origin of Shulin’s Anka industry. The red rice wine that became Shulin’s economic lifeline was loved by many throughout Taiwan.

However, in 1999, the winery moved from Shulin to Linkou. The production of red rice wine in Shulin had lasted almost one century, but it would be discontinued with the move to Linkou. However, the raw material used to make the wine, Anka, would still be produced in Shulin. This marked a new page in the city’s economic history, as the Anka would be used to produce many other types of products in Shulin city.
