After interviewing the temple management, they expressed their aim to help young people learn about the traditional folk religion and their cultural heritage. In addition, we also found people did not know Fude Temple on Dianzai Street very well after our interviews on the street. Therefore, we decided to conduct a survey on our fellow schoolmates to find out how much they know about worshipping and their preference for learning such a cultural heritage.

Survey findings

• Number of surveys: 95
• Subject: Yu-Tsai students
• Gender: Male = 46; female = 49

Q: Area of residence? A: Most students live in Yonghe or Zhonghe. Yonghe
Q: Have you worshipped at a temple? A: Almost all of them have worshipped at a temple before.
Q: Reason for worshipping? A: Most of them worshipped for safety.
Q: Deity worshipped the most? A: Earth God is the most popular, followed by Guanyu, Guanyin, Mazu, and God of Widsom.
Q: How often do you pray at the temple? A: More than half of the students worship at least once a month.
Q: Have you heard of Fude Temple on Dianzai Street in Yonghe that is more than three hundred years old? A: Most respondents haven’t heard of the temple.
Q: Did you know that some temples are worshipping with rice instead of burning paper money? A: Even though most students didn’t know about it, the difference wasn’t big. Some of them have heard it before.
Q: How would you like to learn about the temple? A: A lot of students want to learn about the temple through videos.
