The Process of Making a Map of Soup Noodle | |
Step 1: Prepared drawing tools and found reference data |

The tools we prepared were readily available, including poster paper, scissors, glue, coloring, and so on. We divided our team into several groups to collect data which could be referred to while making the map. |

Step 2: Searched the maps of Soup Noodle in Luzhou on the Internet and the methods to produce maps |
|
The step seemed simple. In fact, one should be careful, because a good reference map could make our process of drawing more smoothly. |

|
Step 3: Referred to the relevant maps of cultural industries in Luzhou |
|
Luzhou District Office or other relevant units often published such maps of cultural industries aiming to promote the characteristics of Luzhou. We had collected some such posters which finally came in handy. Awesome! | |

Step 4: Drew, located, colored, and labeled |
|
This was my first time to learn how to draw a map. It was a specific map of Soup Noodle. In addition to the careful drawing of the streets, signs, and buildings in Luzhou, I needed to mark the exact locations of Soup Noodle shops, which was professional. | |

Step 5: Designed and produced our exclusive 3D "Soup Noodle Mark" |

We designed a representative mark of our Cyberfair project. It would be so cool to put it on the website. |

Step 6: Pasted the photos of the noodle shops |
|
We also attached the photos of all the Soup Noodle shops. Visitors could clearly see their location as well as their appearance. Quite convenient! |

Step 7: Put our 3D "Soup Noodle Mark" on the flat map. Done. From the marks, one could clearly see the location of every Soup Noodle shop in Luzhou. |

The Functions of Soup Noodle Map |

Function 1: Facilitation of inquiries and classification | |
Different from average plane maps, the 3D map we designed mainly used distinctive Soup Noodle patterns to highlight the location of Soup Noodle shops. We also specially designed two patterns of different sizes. The big one stood for well-known Soup Noodle shops, while the small one for representative shops in Luzhou. One could clearly know the nature and quantity Soup Noodle shops at a glance of the map.

Function 2: Being beneficial to manifestation and interpretation | |
We placed this 3D Soup Noodle Map in the anteroom of our school and held a "Briefing of Soup Noodle Map", aiming to provoke the curiosity of all the students in our school to know more about Soup Noodle. We were surprised to find that it attracted the attention of many teachers and students. They even asked their friends to have a look at the map. In addition, our team members spent breaks to introduce the map in the anteroom, which increased the focus on the map and played the function of edutainment. | |
