The trivia of pineapple.

In Taiwan’s traditions, pineapple is regarded as a lucky fruit. People think having it in the house can bring them good luck and good fortunes. Thus, pineapple is broadly used in Taiwan’s ceremornies and celebrations.

The following are some breif introductions about the difference of Kuanmiao’s pineapples.

Taiwan Agricultural No.6 (Apple Pineapple)	The leaves are green with slightly red, and have stings on its edges. The fruit’s shape is like a short vat, and its pulp is very juicy. Apple pineapple is one of the most famous fruits on the markets.
Taiwan Agricultural No.17 (Diamond Pineapple)	The leaves are slightly dark red and have green on its two edges. The fruit’s shape is like a round vat.
Taiwan Agricultural No.4 (Sugarapple Pineapple)	The plants are small and have stings on its leave’s edges. The fruit grows in the spring, and it looks like a cone or spire. It is rather suitable for transportation, so it was one of the most popular fruits for exportation.
Taiwan Agricultural No.3 (Soil Pineapple)	Soil Pineapple is rather different with other kinds of pineapple because of its thick fibers, acid and taste. This kind of pineapple is suitable for making pineapple cakes and canned pineapple.

The prices of Kuanmiao’s pineapple are much higher than other areas, because of its high quality. People in Kuanmiao consider pineapple as their pride, and treat them like their own sons. However, they know how to plant good fruits but do not know how to sell them. Fortunatley, more and more young people come back to the communities, and help old farmers to sell and improve pineapples. The farmers’ income have become better than before because of these changes.
