First meeting
“Follow Auntie and this lollipop will be yours, be obedient and stay in this family!”
“Hi! Xiaowei, I’m Mommy Wu and this is Daddy Wu, welcome to our family.”
This is our first meeting on a warm and sunny day. Xiaowei looked perplexed with innocent doll eyes. To Xiaowei, this is a fresh beginning…….
That year rolled out blinking with hope. To greet the first fostering case, Mommy Wu tidied and cleaned the room in anticipation of the forthcoming foster son, the beddings, wardrobe, desk……, and prepared all necessary furniture for a child, as well as love and care of the family.
Thanks to matching of the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF), Xiaowei, four years old, was the first fostering case received on March 3, 2009. Xiaowei studied at the Kindergarten of the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF). Xiaowei came from a complicated former family whose foreign mother remarried his father and gave birth to him and his younger brother. Later, the parents divorced and the father had custody of the brothers. However, the father had no job and was an alcoholic. So the brothers were not well taken care of. Thus, the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF) arranged Xiaowei to a foster family. Formerly, Xiaowei already stayed in another foster family for three months. But that family failed to give adequate care for Xiaowei. Subsequently, Xiaowei was transferred to the home of Mommy Wu.

The day of first meeting was a sunny day. Mommy Wu came to the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF) to take him home. Shy and with large blinking eyes, Xiaowei obediently followed the mother of the former foster family who said: “Follow Auntie and this lollipop will be yours, be obedient and stay in this family!” Perplexed and held the Lollipop, Xiaowei showed no reaction or resistance but followed Mommy Wu to a new home.
