In the process of promoting music culture and with the rapid development of technologies nowadays, classical music is closely intertwined with popular music. As the result, classical music is now closely related to our daily lives without its original illusions that classical music is so far away from the general public and is extremely hard for listeners to appreciate its beauty. Kaohsiung City government with hope to encourage its residents getting familiar with classical music has held several classical music concerts in the open-space of the government facilities that makes the concert performances out of the concert hall. By doing this, the general public in Kaohsiung City now is more capable and more willing to listen to and to appreciate classical music than before.

5-1 The Connection between Classical Music and Our Daily Lives

Kaohsiung Spring Festival and Hollywood-Comedy Tonight in Kaohsiung are only two of the many other famous outdoor concerts in Kaohsiung. However, it was started in 2009 that the first outdoor concert performed by Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, held by the Kaohsiung City government on the grass, the open-outdoor space, and starting from that year, the Kaohsiung Spring Festival has started its art, cultural and music journey. As time goes by, it has become the greatest and well-known Arts Festival in Kaohsiung city and in Taiwan in general. In other words, Kaohsiung Spring Arts Festival has played a vital role to significantly generate the general public’s attention, appreciation and participations in attending art, cultural and music events and gradually transforms Kaohsiung city from a cultural desert to a cultural oasis.
