Our Thanks

Founder of HanGuang Education Foundation, who is dedicated to promoting Chinese culture – Ms. Song

Ms. Song, who often keeps a low-profile, came to school especially for our interview. During the interview, we learned the band’s founding mission. We’d like to thank Ms. Song for her persistence and creativity so we are able to see such a unique poetry-singing a cappella band.

Friendly Director Chu of HanGuang Vocal Band

We’d like to thank Director Chu for allowing us to work with HanGuang Vocal Band on this Cyberfair project. We got a chance to learn about a cappella and attend the band’s practice sessions. Whether it’s through observing the band’s practices sessions or performances, we could see and hear HanGuang Vocal Band’s heavenly voice and its unique style of a cappella.

The all-round, ever talented band teacher Allegro, Chu

During the band’s rehearsal for ‘South City Art Festival,’ teacher Allegro explained patiently to us what the band was busy with. During our observation at the band’s practice sessions, he would approach and explain to us the song that the band was working on at the moment and what techniques had they adopted. During our interview, he taught us about a cappella, helped us to understand a cappella, and got us falling in love with a cappella. Finally, we’d like to thank teacher Allegro for coming to school to show us what a cappella is really all about.

The group that possesses a divine sound – HanGuang Vocal Band

We’d like to thank everyone on HanGuang Vocal Band for granting our interview and performing at Yu-Tsai Elementary School even when they were extremely busy. Every student was able to see and hear a cappella. During our research, they not only shared every bits and pieces of the band with us, but also agreed to demonstrate different singing parts for the song –Full River of Red. Furthermore, we’d like to thank Lin, Jing-Teng and Kee, Jing Hua for staying after the school concert and teaching us about voice percussion and Bass. We even made a video so every student at Yu-Tsai would be able to learn with us.

HanGuang Vocal Band’s sunshine – Assistant Debbie, Lee

Getting band members who live in different places with different jobs together for our interview and teaching demonstration was not an easy task. Luckily, HanGuang has a supportive assistant Ms. Lee to accommodate our requests. Thanks to Ms. Lee, we were able to get detailed information about the band to make our website more informative and comprehensive.

Every one who we have interviewed

Besides band related personnel, we have also interviewed the band’s sponsors, charity event organizers, concert audiences, and school teachers and students. Every interviewee answered our questions thoroughly, and they have also shared a lot of details with us. Through them, we were able to learn about things that we have never heard of or known before. They patiently completed the questionnaires, which were crucial in our statistical analysis for this research. We truly appreciate them helping us with this Cyberfair project.

All supporting fathers and mothers throughout the project

We’d like to thank our parents for allowing and supporting us to join Cyberfair. It didn’t matter if we had to go to interviews, join team activities, or attend meetings over the weekends, our parents were always there to support us. Even if it meant picking us up late at night, they were always there for us. When we came across a bottleneck, they would provide timely suggestions to get us through. Even though they knew joining the Cyberfair project would mean lots of hard work, they did not stop us because they knew we’d enjoy the challenge. Without our parents’ help, we wouldn’t have made it this far. We even had to come to school to work on the project during winter vacation. Our parents really got their hands full with us!

Our homeroom teachers and every one at Yu-Tsai

When we first presented in school’s administrative meeting, we were hoping the school would provide some assistance like hosting a music seminar or a cappella poetry contest. Without hesitation, the school offered us its full support. With school’s support, we were able to complete the project smoothly. Furthermore, we’d like to thank our homeroom teachers for being so supportive by allowing us to make up missed school works. Finally, we’d like to thank everyone at Yu-Tsai for participating in the music seminar. We got a chance to introduce a cappella and HanGuang Vocal Band to grades four and five students in guided tours. Grades two to five classes that participated in a cappella competition had put on an outstanding show for the whole school to enjoy. We want to thank every one in Yu-Tsai for helping and enjoying HanGuang Vocal Band with us.

Our guiding light – Cyberfair Teacher

We’d like to thank Teacher Mimi Peng, Teacher Tina Yang, and Teacher Tina Yeh for guiding us through the project. They gave us valuable suggestions when we got stuck and corrected us when we made mistakes. Throughout our research, our teachers always came up with different events, such as guided tours, poetry analysis, or writing poems to supplement what we have learned from textbooks. Furthermore, our valuable experience in this project is something that we cannot get from books. We have learned, grown, and expanded our horizons through this project.

Comrades who have battled along the way – Cyberfair team members

When we first got into the Cyberfair team, we did not know each other that well. Luckily, our grade sixes acted as leaders and guided the grade fives. When we encountered a problem, they would jump in, divide up the work, and show us the way to solve it. When the project was in its final stage, we sometimes got into heated discussions over work, but we would always get things done because we shared a common goal of finishing the project together.
