Origin and History of Changhua Child Development Center

  • Formerly known as the "Changhua Special School, Chinese Children's Fund(CFF), Taiwan Province."
  • February 21, 1993: Bang-hong Chen, the former director of the Changhua Child Development Center (former CEO of TFCF), found that the professional education and training institutions were inadequate in Changhua, and many children with disabilities could not get proper care. He hired experts to assess the possibility of building a center.
  • Year of 1999: cooperated with Taiwan Fund for Children and Families to expand the scope of social services, and functioned as the management center of retarded children cases commissioned by county government.
  • May 1, 1999: It was renamed " Changhua Special School, Chinese Children's Fund(CFF)”
  • July, 1999: promoted early intervention services of preschool children.
  • May 27, 2003: It was renamed as "Changhua County Yi-Zhi Private School, Taiwan Fund for Children and Families."
  • Year of 2003: functioned as the report and management center of retarded children cases commissioned by county government.
  • July, 2004: leased the third floor of Disabilities Center in Tianwei Township , Changhua County. The Tianwei branch served for disabled children in the South Changhua.
  • July, 2005: The Tianwei branch closed because the lease expired. The cases were transfer to other institutions according to the parents’ needs, and the students willing to join the Hemei center took shuttle bus to continue schooling .
  • January 1, 2008: it was renamed as "Changhua Child Development Center, Taiwan Fund for Children and Families.”
