Introduction|"The Chambermaids Wind Quintet" is one of the top woodwind quintets in Australia, which is beloved ever since it was founded. Its tuba player, Ms Zhi-Zhen Ye, was born in Taiwan and studied at the music class in Minsheng Elementary School in Changhua City. She has got the master of music abroad and performed in several countries. She has also participated in several music teaching activities of Musica Viva in Australia and other places (such as Hong Kong). She has rich experience in music teaching the the play of musical instruments. Ms. Ye was invited to go to her hometown and perform and teach in campuses. It is hoped that through the players of the Chambermaids Wind Quintet, the passion of music could be brought across countries. The cooperation of the chamber music band could also lead the children learn more directly the more professional skills of playing the instruments

We went to the "The Chambermaids Wind Quintet" concert for students this afternoon. When we entered Yuanlin Performance Hall, we saw several adults from different school who were also looking forward to the performance. We walked through the hall with the staff, along with members of other organizations, and waited for the beginning of the feast.

We were in Yuanlin Performance Hall Waiting for the opening of the concert

The songs played today were: Waltz of the Beach, Superman, Pirates of the Carribean, Alladin, Fred's Jewell, William Tell Express, Elephant (from the Carnival of the Animals),  Proco Rosso of Hayao Miyazaki, Hand in Hand, Tears for You, and the Pink Panther. We listened to the beautiful music of The Chambermaids Wind Quintet. According to the host, a member of The Chambermaids Wind Quintet is from Taiwan. Her names is Zhi-Zhen Ye, and she plays the tuba. I paid more attention on the performance because of the host's introduction. The songs played in the first half were more classical, which were sometimes strong in power and sometimes smooth to the ears. It was a treat to listen to the performance. The brass quintet of the second half was more energizing. Following the performers' gesture, the silent audience moved with the music. This was the power of popular chamber music, which was performed by an excellent chamber music band. We had a feast on the ears!

We found several familiar songs on the program We were especially looking forward to "Pirates of the Carribean." But…

Taiwanese musician Zhi-Zhen Ye learned the tuba abroad and got excellent results, which made people of Taiwan proud. The bass sound of the tuba embellishes other sounds from high-pitch instruments, making the songs more delicate with layers of music. One dissapointment for us was that the song "Pirates of the Carribean" was canceled due to the time limit. That was the song that we had practiced before! The most impressive moment was the activity led by the French horn player. By playing the simple French horn with the connection of a water pipe and a toy horn, she managed to vary the sound pitch by changing the embouchure. She was incredible! The special experience not only boosted our music literacy but also acted as a model for us. How lucky we were to join the activity!
