History of Chen Wei Chen

At the mention of “A-Zen Bakery,” everyone gives a thumbs-up. The fame and popularity of the bakery has become even wider since some Japanese people came to learn baking skills from the bakery owner.

The owner Yung-feng Cheng told us that the business of bakery has passed down from many generations before (with a history of nearly 200 years). In 1936, Mr. Cheng’s elder uncle Tsung-min Cheng was sent by his father Tsai Cheng to Tokyo and learned the techniques to make western cakes. He changed the name into Mei Sung House, which was the first ever store that sells Japanese cookies and western cakes.

Shortly after, Mr. Cheng’s father Chen-shan Cheng went to Japan to sharpen his skills as a baker, and changed the official name of the bakery to “Chen Wei Chen” (although the locals prefer to call it the A-Zen Bakery).
