It is a very special experience for me to participate in International Schools Cyberfair and I really learned a lot. Because this is the first time for me to participate in this kind of large scale projects and we needed to discuss and decide from research outline, on-site investigation and final data collection and compiling. Hence, we encountered many difficulties and difficult problems to tackle with but in the end, we overcame all the challenges due to our team work. There cannot be done by any single person. Team work is one of the things I have learned. In addition, I learned a lot relevant knowledge of our research subject. In the beginning, I had no idea about it but now I am very interested in the topic. In the end, gradually, I am familiar with our research. I am joyful for the knowledge I acquired as well as the identification to local community. I hope that with this project, the public will know more about our community and feel the power of life hidden behind.

The only thing I can say is this is not one man job. From the selection of subject, data collection, literature review, on-site investigation, data processing to the completion of report, all these tasks have been completed with our cooperation. We discussed after classes, researched at National Central Library, and conducted on-site investigation at the Hall under the leadership of our project director. We all have done our best and provided different insights. We were so committed to this project. I am very happy to be able to work with these good partners and I am honored to be able to complete this project with them.

This is not my first time participation in International Schools Cyberfair but before we were assisted by teachers and parents. I did not feel it is a difficult task and the participation this time was totally different. We were on our own from the selection of topic, data search to website development. Although it was more difficult this time, yet I learned more. Through this contest, I understood the function of Public Administration Hall in Qing Dynasty, the historical background, and the transformation of time as well as its function during Japanese ruling. Meanwhile, I learned about features and unique construction of Chinese architecture, preservation, and maintenance of historical site. During the website development, we continued working and cooperating with each other, In short, the participation in this contest benefited me a lot.

The first time participation in this Cyberfair allowed me to understand something that I had no idea about in the beginning with the instruction and guidance given by our teachers. After discussing with our group members, we decided the project theme and structure. During the process, I also learned a lot including collecting data. I saw many new things and learned something that cannot be acquired from textbooks. We discovered a lot of things.

We owed this project to our leader, Wu Zhelun, who distributed our task in a neat and tight order and with his help, we were able to find literature information. I am very happy to be able to work with other team members in this Cyberfair. I would also appreciate very much of the help of others for giving me this unique experience of participation.

From the beginning when I knew nothing about the project to the completion, I looked back and found us overcoming many challenges…Now it is time to reflect what we have learned and the memories bring me back to the beginning and to think of what I used to think to be very important and what did I learn from this project?

I think “teamwork” is still the king. When I was reviewing the projects in past Cyberfairs, I did not pay attention to the winning contents because their victories lie in something that is untold and behind the scene. The key is teamwork: each member works toward a common goal with active discussion and participation. The team always comes before individuals and finally, the team can be awarded with the sweet fruit of success. For myself, although I put efforts in discussion and contributed to the project, yet I was not a capable person and I was not able to search for useful data, conduct in-depth studies, or develop website. I would like to take this opportunity to thank for our members for the efforts they put in, especially, our leader, Chelun, who always monitors our progress and provides us guidance. He has done so much for us and let us be able to complete the project. I would also like to thank our teachers for the trust on our abilities to plan our schedule and search information.

In addition, accidently, through this opportunity, historical site for me is not only the tourist destination or something that is not relevant to me. I now learn to appreciate its features and know even a small piece of sculpture has the meaningful presentation. Interesting knowledge can be found in somewhere that often surprises you.

For the project subject, we selected the historical site nearby our school, the Public Administration Hall. In conjunction with our course of Taiwanese History in the first year of Senior High, we clearly understand the duties of Governor of Public Administration and the official rank of late Qing Dynasty. We even got in touch with ruling by Governor Office during Japanese occupation. Because of the website development, we knew the difficulty of data collection. It is really a challenging task to find data relevant to our research topic from many books, journals, and papers. It is even harder to summarize or extract some parts. During the research process, I especially would like to thank for our leader, Wu Zhelun who always led us with wisdom and tolerance. Of course, my thanks also go to other members in our team and with their help, we are able to complete the project. This is my first participation in Cyberfair and it took us more than half year to research a topic. From brainstorming, selection of the subject, implementing research method…and to the end of the completion, I learned a lot and the sense of achievement makes me feel this experience is very valuable.
