From the summer in 2007, a group of people who cares Losheng Sanatorium launched the children camp which turned into as the community school.They're hoping to bring more nearby residents to walk in and to know more about Lesheng through the diverse courses.Meanwhile,in the hope of installing some brand new stimulus to the place. After two years of endeavor and efforts, many families come to Losheng and have deeper understanding about the place. We're feeling touched not only because it has became a public space for nearby residents but these people are truly attached to the place.
This year, the community school would be running for the third year. At the same time, the issues of management of the community, the teaching philosophy, and the curriculum design are being discussed and well deliberated. However, the community school itself has faced a precedent challenge about the spatial reduction, the problem of MRTS constructional security, the alteration of the traffic routes…these all could constrain the possibility of better development.
Teachers are volunteer workers from NTU(Nationational Taiwan University)、FJU(Fu Jen Catholic University)、NCCU(National ChengChi University)、SU(Soochow University)、SHU(Shin Hsin University)、TKU(TamKang University) etc. Surrounded by old trees, peaceful environment and beautiful Japanese-style buildings, some of the students are also members of the Youth Alliance. The alliance is organized mostly by college students since 2004. They united for actions to save Losheng sanatorium and promoted the reservation and the living rights of Losheng Sanatorium. Meanwhile, in 2007, they had also been offering different kinds of curriculums and programs in this elegant and historical building every weekend.
