Medical Offices feature the "Wang" character

Gothic architecture of Losheng Gate was build in Showa 5(1930). Early medical offices which highlighted the "Wang" character. The first building of administrative offices and the second of clinics (including pharmacy, laboratory and registration) as well as the third building is for severe patients (so-called Returning to Spring or No.4 Wards). The second building is an isolated area which entrance is a disinfectant pool. Patients can't pass the pool to the other space of second building. Besides, patient's letters, money and all belongings must be disinfected by the pool. The third building is connected with wooden circular porches. The architecture structure has never changed since the Japanese ruled period. The antique-style corridors have often been the drama shooting of television companies. 《Top》

Dorm of Good Fortune and Long Life, Content and Penglai

Finished the building in Showa 5(1930), these are houses for patients who were early called No.1(Dorm Penglai), No.2(Content) and No.3(Good Fortunne and Long Life). Dorm No.4 were clinics (the 3rd buiding ), which were rooms for severe patients with the name of "Return to Spring Hut".《Top》

Boiler and Laundry room

The big chimmney of boiler was established in Showa 5(1930). The original name was "Machinery Division", which was a crucial source of heat provision in the sanatorium. The steam that the boiler room produces enters the laundry room and upward goes to Public Cooking Room and bathrooms, is literally the center of Losheng Sanatorium.《Top》

Public Cooking Room(grand kitchen) and Residents' shower room

The grand kitchen, which was named as Public Cooking, was completed Showa 5(1930). As the second stop of boiler steam, it was the only catering place in the Japanese-ruled period. Residents' Bathroom is the steam terminal of the Boiler Room.《Top》

Dorm Newly Built, Sunshine, Chiayi, Yushan, Newborn, Heights Tatum

The area's houses: Dorm Sunshine(so-called Asahi in the Japanese rule period), Newly Built(Shikishima Hut), Tatung(Daiwa Hut), Tatun & Yushan(Newly Height Hut), Heights(Second Height Hut) are all Japanese architecture of three-in-one courtyard and built in Showa 9(1934). 《Top》

Lotus Monastery and library

Residents voluntarily launched donations and built the "Lotus Monastery" piece by piece with their own hands following the inauguration in May ROC 43(1954). 《Top》

Dorm Jing-sheng One, Huei-sheng One and Two

Dorm Jing-sheng One, Hui-sheng One and Two are two-story architectures constructed after Taiwan restoration. Dorm Jing-sheng One was built during ROC 44-45(1955/1956). And Huei-sheng One and Two were finished with the United States' support in ROC 43(1954). The majority residents are military veteran from Mainland China which has become the special group.《Top》

Dorm Virtue

Dorm Virtue was built in the period of United States' support. The whole building was so long and residents called it "train house". It's only for female patients lived here. There were at most 38 female patients lived here at the same time.《Top》

The Garden of Delight and Self-reflection Room

In 1959, the United States assisted to establish a psychological disorder building,Garden of Delight. And its function has come to an end right now and served as the living space for residents. At the back of the Garden of Delight is the self-reflection Room, the confinement room. In the past, it's used to detain violating residents.《Top》

Commodity Shops and beauty salon

Built in ROC 49(1960), Mr. Yi-Jhen Jin, chair of the Buddhist association who took charge of the construction meterials from Losheng Sanatorium.
Patients here comopleted the building by themselves and engraved two characters of Losheng on the roof. Just behind the building is the residents' barbershop and beauty salon.《Top》

Saint William Catholic Church and Library

Completed in ROC 54(1965), the religious architecture of Losheng Sanatorium lately built was called St. Cosmas and St. Damian church in order to commemorate the priest of Leprosy in Hawaii island . Later, the name was replaced with Saint William with a specific purpose for patients to gather around. 《Top》

Chaulmogra Tree

The Chaulmogra tree is indigenous plant the tropical areas of Malaysia and the Indian continent. Only the tree exists in the sanatorium at present. Before ROC 41(1952), the major treatment of Leprosy is the Chaulmoogric. And Dr. George Gushue Taylor of Mackay Memorial Hospital who applied the Chaulmoogric medication formally. On January 30, Taisho 13(1924), Dr Taylor brought the medication to Taiwan and provided the injection of the Chaulmoogric into infection portion. The Chaulmoogric ointment can be smeared on the ulcer. And the Chaulmoogric tablet was to be taken.《Top》

Feeling at home within the sanatorium and Life Thriving Stele

On the memorial of Superintendent Wun-long Wu, "Feeling at home within teh Sanatorium and Life Thriving" is autographed by Mr. Hsueh-wen Yeh, veteran patient No.1. During the Japanese ruled era, June 25th was the Empress' birthday. She declaimed the day as "Date of Leprocy."Empress Teimei even inscribed(Showa 8) these words in a song that "I could not arrive and everyone has to provide these unfortunate people with condolences and become their friends for me." According to the mass rapid transfer sstem, the stele had been preservced and romoved. to another place.《Top》
