What distinguishes Green Map System from other maps is its clearly categorized and universal set of symbols. There are 125 icons being used internationally, each of which represents a type of site. Some icons represent positive places we can get close to and should protect, such as cultural and natural sites. Others represent negative places that we need to concern about and supervise, such as pollution sources. While we collect information on a region’s rich resources to make a Green Map, these diverse icons can help us quickly categorize, organize and record information. They also broaden our views of the environment and remind us of the things we used to ignore.
