At present, the string noodles industry in the Mucha region is no long what it used to be. Today, in the area where the "String noodles Gantry" used to be, we can only find three handmade string noodles workshops, including the Liu Xie Chang Noodles factory on Mucha Road, the Ri Fa Noodles factory on Baoyi Road, and the Hong Xing String noodles factory on Xiuming Road, among the three of which, Liu Xie Chang is the only workshop that is open to the visitors and therefore widely known. As regards the machine-made string noodles factories, other than those in the marketplace, we only found one on Zhinan Road, namely the Jian He Noodles factory which also produces string noodles. The Xie Chang Noodles factory which originally stood on Mucha Road has moved to Baokao Road, Xindian.

We discovered that, because of the urban development and the problems with inheritance, a majority of string noodles workshops have by now disappeared from Mucha; and the handmade string noodles are still in great demand from the ordinary luncheonettes that serve string noodles, insomuch as most people in pursuit of delicious food still prefer the taste of handmade string noodles, and people are accustomed to use the handmade string noodles as the offering to the deities. Therefore, the handmade string noodles still has its value of existence in the market, but we have to think over how to carry on and promote the craft.
