In response to the 1993 cultural activities, on May 1st, 1993, the Wenshan District Administration organized the “Wenshan County Art Festival” activity, for which a string noodles fortunate pig was prepared with the prestigious Liu Xie Chang handmade string noodles in combination with artistic skills, and Mr. Ma Ying-Jeou, the then incumbent mayor of Taipei, was invited to compere the activity. This grand and significant activity was listed as one of celebrations for the 120th Anniversary of the Foundation of Taipei City and attracted a magnitude of participants.

At that time, the fortunate pig 5.8m long and 2.2m wide was prepared by the Liu Xie Chang Noodles Factory and the Jin Yi Xiang Pastry Shop together. Later, it was mixed with the tea oil from the San Fang Oil Factory on the old Mucha Street and distributed to the participants who ate the food to pray for health and luck. The old master was also invited to the site to demonstrate the craft of making string noodles, so that the people could know more about the handmade string noodles, the pastry shops and the tea oil culture of the old Mucha Street.

Because such activities usually take much time and efforts and have to be sponsored by the Farmers’ Association, all the subsequent activities organized by the District Administration were less ceremonious and mostly devoted to the themes of tea culture and green bamboo shoot, whereas the hilarious scene of distributing string noodles fortunate pig is unlikely to reappear in the near future.
