The Star Boulevard connects the center of the SSD and the harbor area. It is a fusion of green park and oceanic culture. After years of renovation, the Star Boulevard is now a new look of the SSD.

Location

The 1-km-long Star Boulevard stretches from the center of the SSD to the harbor project area. It is also the only major road in Kaohsiung connecting to the harbor.

Design of the Star Boulevard

The Star Boulevard is the pivot of the KRT, the Blue Highway, and the KLR in the SSD. The oceanic image presented by the Star Boulevard reminds the visitors that they have embarked the harbor city.

The design of the Star Boulevard adopts the concept of green hall as presented by the Formosa Boulevard. It offers a new green field for the public. As for lighting design, the oceanic concept is applied. The Star Boulevard reinforces the image of Kaohsiung as a harbor city and creates a unique oceanic culture in the SSD.

The Star Boulevard offers a brand new recreational area day and night. It is the new harbor hallway leading to the center of Kaohsiung.

There are two traits in the design of the Star Boulevard.

Special: The one and only

The Star Boulevard is the widest and the only road goes directly to the harbor. It is 80 meter in width, and 1000 meter in length. The sidewalk is 7.5 meter in width. Tress planted along the boulevard before renovation remains at their original places.

Special: The lighting design

Each multi-functional lamppost supports two specially-designed lamps. The shape of the lamp looks like a flying seagull. So, lines of lampposts look like a group of seagulls flying over the sky of Kaohsiung. The application of energy-saving LED lighting system modernizes this area. In addition, the reflective light coming from the lamp gives out a relaxing ambience, while the decorative neon ring around the lamp conveys an artistic atmosphere. During the day, the lampposts are a piece of art themselves, standing on the green field, offering the passers-by a refreshing view. The Star Boulevard is indeed a splendid place to relax day and night.
