Buildings and Carvings Grand Dawu

North Dawu MT. is geographically located on the meeting point of Majia Township, Taiwu Township of Pingtung County and Jinfeng Township of Taidong County Its altitude is 3092 meters, which is the highest of the south part of Central Mountains and the only one in Pingtung Area of South Taiwan which is more than 3000 meters high. It is called the "Barrier of South Taiwan”. Among the famous "one hundred mountains of Taiwan", North Dawu MT., Jade Mt., Snow MT., Nanhu MT and Shiouguruan Mt are generously called "Five Famous Mountains” and are the most representative ones of Taiwan. Because Dawu MT. is located in the south of Taiwan and its altitude is the highest in the south, it is the first of the "Five Famous Mountains" with imposing vigor.

North Dawu Mt is high into the air and has a thin ridge. On the top of the North Dawu MT stands the Dawu Temple, that is the relic from the Japanese colonists. The building of the Dawu Temple was related to the recruiting of the Gaosha Righteuous and Valiant Amy.

In the opinion of clansmen of Paiwan Tribe and Rukai Tribe, Dawu MT is the habitation of their ancestors' spirits. When a clansman passes away, his spirit will go back to the Dawu Temple and live with their ancestors. So Dawu MT is a divine mountain.

Because North Dawu MT is the divine mountain of Paiwan Tribe, there are many traditional stories about it, such as the one about cataclysm and the one about its comparing with YU MT. in highness.

North Dawu MT is on the up right side of Old Fawan. If it is not heavily foggy, we can see Dawu MT cleanly .Old Fawan is guarded and favored by Dawu MT at any time.
