Lotus Pond
Lotus Pond
Lying to the east of the Old Street in Zuoying District, the Lotus Pond has been a popular scenic resort since Ching dynasty, during which the Pond full of lush lotus flowers was praised as one of the eight scenic resorts in Fengshan region.
The area to the west of the Pond has witnessed the establishment of many temples. Within a mere 500-meter long blocks, 20 temples have sprung up. There are plenty of tourist spots in the vicinity of Lotus Pond: for example, from north to south, the Confucius Temple, Jade Emperor Temple, Chi-ming Temple, Spring and Autumn Pavillion, Wuli Arbor, Dragon and Tiger Tower, etc. Every temple in this neighborhood demonstrates different features of southern Fujianese style architecture.
To the northeast of the Pond, there is an amusement park where a Lotus Pond Train Station imitating the famous Chichi Station in Nantou was erected, with two 60-year-old plus steam locomotives on display. While having an exciting time in the amusement park, visitors can also relax and get a sense of nostalgia by visiting the station and locomotives.
