Introduction  |  acceptation  |

The Hope Agent Development Association of Republic of China(commonly known as “Hope Agent Development Association” )has launched the “Little Digital Heroes” Program through the integration of resources in the public and private sectors for the purpose of improving the digital divide of the school children of the aboriginal tribes and encouraging university students to show their concern and the sense of responsibility to society. This program is facilitated by the “Digital Light Spot” project of the volunteers in colleges and universities through which information technology and social concerns will be brought to the youths of the aboriginal tribes. By way of this project, the volunteers in colleges and universities assisted those aboriginal youths to proactively participate in an internet contest in order to narrow the digital divide. At the same time, aboriginal youths are also encouraged to study related topics on aboriginal people to research and preserve the cultures of the aboriginal communities. The eventual goal is to strengthen the identity of the aboriginal youths with their indigenous cultures.

The Chairperson of Hope Agent Development Association, Dr. Lei Chien, selected the “Little Digital Heroes” Program for volunteers in colleges and universities because both the rules of the contents in the International Schools Cyberfair and the Taiwan Schools Cyberfair are set forth by the group of experts from UNESCO. As such, schools with different resources have equal opportunity and the digital divide could be mended. At the same time, the government of the ROC has committed a budget for the installation of a T1 information network as the hardware environment to the extent that “every school has computers”. The input through the participation of the “Digital Light Spot” will help the aboriginal youths to catch up with and surpass the digital divide and also developed the most vivid aspects of their lives. All participating young fellows are blessed to have a memorable experience in the contest and to fame in the legends of their tribes for the development of their peers in the future.TOP

The “Little Digital Heroes” Program contains the so-called “Digital Light Spot” by the college volunteers carried two special meanings. First of all, each “digital light spot” is a gene of hope through which light and heat will be transmitted to the places of need. Secondly, the “Digital Light Spot” guides the aboriginal school children at senior high and primary levels to take part in the contest of the Taiwan Schools Cyberfair so that more and more people will know about the junior high and primary schools and the tribes of the aboriginal people. Schools participating in the International Schools Cyberfair are not the schools in remote areas of the earth. This chance where schools in the United States of America are the same as other schools, each of them is a digital light spot on the world map.

We worked in conjunction with Hung Yeh Primary School in Rai Sui for the rejuvenation of the traditional Truku culture there. We carry on the sprit of our fellow alumni in the past and amalgamate such spirit of the enthusiasm of this class for nurturing an optimistic view of the future. We have the spirit of “Concern with love and make history with hope”. In the future, we will assist Hung Yeh Primary School to present itself to the whole world so that they know there is a small village call Hung Yeh. We hope all little fellows and partners participating in this program can move forwards hand in hand. Together, we are a little sun that gives light and warmth.

We have come to the conclusion that Truku Tribe of Hung Yeh Village shall be the gravity of our research after discussion with the principal and teachers of the school. We gave this research project a name, “Truku Bale”, and assigned the little digital heroes to the title Brave Contestants of Truku participating in the project under our direction.TOP
