  • The Recorder: Chia-Ling Lee, Chih-Hung Wang

Chien-Hui Weng teacher instructed us how to make the animation today, and it was really exciting! We made some rolling balls, moving everywhere. Although we didnˇt do it very well in the beginning; we knew what precisely animation was at least. We all felt that making animation was very appealing, but learning and practicing it entirely in only a few hours was nearly impossible. On the other hand, we also learned how to make the ball move; how to make the facial expression on computer. Although we were exhausted, I knew teacher was much drained than us. We appreciated teacherˇs earnest instructing, thank you teacher!

Observing the Water of Our School (1)
  • The Recorder: Chia-Ling Lee 2005/12/14

The principal took us to visit the water tower in our school on Monday. The first water tower was one of the main water sources in our school. The water would flow to the community after the water tower was full, and the water would also flow to the water towers located on the teachers' dormitories and on the kindergarten. The water towers on teacherˇs dormitories and kindergarten were four tons and two tons. The first water tower not only flew to teacherˇs dormitory and kindergarten, but also flew to the spare water tower back to our school. There are two spare water towers, and their capacity is one hundred tons. Here we may have question: where was the water going after the water tower was full? Certainly, it will flow to the smaller water tower next to the original one, once the small water tower was full; the water flew to the water towers beside Liu-chia.
After the water towers beside Liu-chia were full, the water will flow to the two tons water towers placed at the upstairs of the community. At the end of the visiting, the principal asked us, ¨do you know why we use so many water towers in school?〃 Unfortunately, We have no answer. The principal explained to us, ¨because school has to provide the water to the community and the activity center!〃 The principal also told us ¨when drinking water, one
should think of its source.〃 We felt ashamed because we didnˇt obey this rule. However, from now on, we know how difficult it is to have a glass of water for drinking. Additionally, from now on, we have to think for the source of the water while drinking. Moreover, we have both to cherish and save water.

  • The Recorder: Che-Min Chen

The principal took us to visit the water towers in our school the day before yesterday. The principal told us the water towers in our school were approximately three hundred tons. Some pipes connect to teacherˇs dormitories. Some pipes connect to the main kitchen. The others are connected to the wash hand platforms and restrooms. The principal showed us the water towers in our school and told us what would be like if there were
no water. So I realized there were many water towers in our school. After hearing what principal told us, I thought water meant a lot to us. Because we canˇt do many things, such as washing teeth and face, taking showers, and cleaning clothes without water. Those things all require water. Thus, we have to prize every drop of it.

  • The Recorder: Chih-Ting Yeh, Man-Ting Huang
The principal leaded us to see every water tower in our school today. We went to the water tower next to the kitchen. It was the main water tower of school. The principal said, ¨water in the water tower came from first source, and water of our school have to supply the activity center. After we saw every water tower, the principal said, ¨the reasons why we have so many water towers were because our first water source was often interrupted because of natural disaster, and the water also has to supply the activity center. Thatˇs why we have numerous water towers to store water.〃 I thought we have to cherish every drop of it in our school, because it was difficult to get and precious, too. --by Chih-Ting Yeh

The principal took us to observe the water tower of our school the day before yesterday. The principal said, ¨The water tower of our school was nearly three hundred tons! It was really weighty.〃 The principal also took us to watch the inside of the water tower. And it was really deep! The principal as well said, ¨there were some problems while building transporting system
to make use of water.〃 However, he solved them effortlessly. The principal also showed us where the water goes. It reaches to the main kitchen, teacherˇs dormitory, wash hand platform, toilets, and one resident house. It is surprising for us that water of our school flow to so many places. No wonder the water towers of our school are so heavy and profound.

Teacher was very laborious and arduous, thus, we will all endeavor to do our best. Thank you, my dear teacher!

The Irrigating of the Tea Garden
The water source was one of the most central factors to influence the management of tea garden. The using of water came from the livelihood water or the water towers in those far places. The most essential livelihood was for family expensing, and the surplus water was for fishpond and truck farmˇs irrigation. The final surplus water would flow to the cistern, which was utilized for the tea garden. Those tea gardeners which had their own water towers would have a huge water pump and large-scale cask. They would carry water in other place by a FWD car. No matter of what kind of water usage, those tea gardens are all set up by sprinkle water pipeline and spray nozzle to let ¨green gold〃 (tea) have the good growthing environment.

The Practicing of the Joint Water Pipes
  • The Recorder: Zhao-Ju Huang and Man-Ting Huang
The mountain spring has to go through high mountains to peopleˇs dwellings and tea gardens. Water pipes often will be damaged by water pressure, wearing and tearing, and even natural disaster etc. In order to use water constantly, every family has its own unique skills to connect water pips. It is one of the compulsory living skills for people who lived in the mountains. The school also needs one person with repairing ability. Then our school can continue work while the water source is unfortunately cut down. The common water pipe textures are either black rubber, or PVC plastic tub. Black rubber pipe is flexible and it wonˇt break when the water is frozen. It is also very convenient to pass through various kinds of topography and forest land; but the price is high and the black rubber tub needs to be fixed on forest with the iron wiring. On the other hand, PVC plastic tub is still the commonly used waterway material in the mountain area. Its great advantage contains constructing easily, firmly, and low-costing. But the shortage for PVC is that it is unable to cross different kinds of topology.

The water pipes need proper joints, and the measure standard is inch. Different water pipe of size needs different joint to connect. If the black rubber pipe is leaking, we have to cut the pipe flat and joint it with a pair of symmetrical connecting ring; for the PVC plastic tub, we have to cut the pipe flat and joint it with a stopping tap and with a larger connecting sphere by viscose.

Research on Irrigation System of the Tea Garden
  • The Recorder: Yu-Chun Lai, Chia-Ling Lee

We visited the house of the president of the committee today; he showed us his tea garden. The whole tea garden is quite large, and the president even confirmed us how to uses the spraying water appliance. We were by spurted by the water. After the visiting, the president of the committee told us how to attach pipes and cut them. Though time was undersized; conversely, I learnt much through truly experiencing. Briefly, I learn a lot, for one example, I comprehend how to unite pipes and slash pipes. I not only understood those pipes, but also recognize how to repair those pipes. It was not easy! I hope through joining this meaningful and evocative activity, I can gain more knowledge than others, because we donˇt visit other places in the past very often, which would absolutely do some benefit to our learning. In a word, visiting is good, because we can know more information and materials. --by Yu-Chun

The principal took us to visit the house of leader of the committee. The leader wanted us to know how significant the pipe was and how to connect pipes. Our cars ran through many roads and streets, and finally arrived at his house. We got off the cars happily and said together ¨Hello! President!〃 And leader of the community showed us his tea garden.
There were many posts in his tea garden, and those posts were connected by several water pipes. There was an immense switch, when the big control was turned on, the water will come out from the posts. Those posts were spraying machines. If it was able to spray, we can use the machine and donˇt have to water by ourselves, which save lots of labor.
