Combined with the Course:

In this CyberFair project, we selected research topic, planned research framework, implemented the project by teamwork and accomplished the web page design. Through spirit of research and teamwork, we explored the legend of Cloud Gate. In this research process, we realized that learning is not limited to textbooks. We can obtain the skills of different fields in life to enhance the scope, depth and diversity of learning.

Language

We collected and read related information by different groups and planned the subjects and designed the questions. In the interview, we not only obtained oral expression skill, but also enhanced logic thinking. After accomplishing the activities, we filled in meeting records and reports of progress. We transformed our acquisition in words which enhanced our writing competence. In CyberFair project, we made progress in competence of listening, speaking, reading, writing and generalization in Chinese learning.

Social Study:

Cloud Gate Dance Theatre has not only been promoting national and overseas performance for years, but also enhancing cultural development and international exchange. In addition, it founded the foundation to promote art education and artistic activities. It even provides reward programs to assist with young dancers' creation and study and support young artists to expand the vision abroad. It awards young creators to demonstrate their talents and fulfill the dream and creates the stage of performance.

Art and Humanities:

We designed the board of "Masters' Gathering" with aesthetics. In addition, by drawing we made large posters to show on the bulletin board of the hallway and expanded the vision and enhanced team coherence in promotion activities. We asked the calligraphy teacher Ms. Liang Ting-chien to write the cursive style words for us to strengthen our artistic and humanistic combination.

Science and Life Technology:

During this CyberFair project, we combined knowledge in natural technology and information, and use technology products such as professional cameras, digital cameras and smartphones to record all activities in the research process in detail. Meanwhile, we searched various useful data on the internet which was convenient. In busy academic lives, we discussed CyberFair project by video meetings, obtained the competence to use information technology and extended our learning.

Impact and Shock:

In "Cloud Gate Dance Theatre" project, we approached modern dance, experienced Cloud Gate Theater, watched several works of Cloud Gate and successively recognized the internationally well-known group. The core character Mr. Lin Hwai-min cultivated numerous professional dancers and choreographers for regular outdoor performance and introduced art to the countryside. He is the pride of the Taiwanese. He guided contemporary art development in Taiwan with profound influence. We were considerably touched. Thus, our team "Masters' Gathering" designed promotion activities to contribute to performance art and invite more people to approach the pride of Taiwan.

Through this CyberFair project, "Masters' Gathering" made a presentation as the promotion to introduce this modern art group to more people. Cloud Gate Dance Theatre not only frequently reflected their social concern to creation, but also provided the presentation stage for new creators by public performance in remote schools and art relief. Most projects and creation of Cloud Gate witnessed the prospect of Taiwan society and cultural art.

Intellectual Property Rights:

The content of this CyberFair project contained a great deal of texts, images, and videos. Our members read relevant data carefully, divided tasks to discuss, record, interview, and make field study. With the consent of interviewers, we transformed the interview content, photos, and texts into the content on our website. We marked the source of the data we cited so as to respect intellectual property. We truly cherished the precious data obtained which made our CyberFair project rich. We want to thank the interviewers with our greatest gratitude.

Local Character Support:

Ms. Ko Wan-chun and Mr. Lin Chia-liang are experienced dancers of Cloud Gate Dance Theatre. Ms. Ko Wan-chun was selected as a seed dancer of Cloud Gate Dance Theatre in 2004 and she participated in many important works of Mr. Lin Hwai-min and was the head dancer in Dust, Pine Smoke, Water Moon, etc. She will leave Cloud Gate with Mr. Lin Hwai-min this year. Ms. Ko, Wan-chun said, “the days in Cloud Gate are my cultivation.”

Mr. Lin Chia-liang played Xu Xian in Legend of the White Snake, the helmsman in Legacy and he showed solo dance of praying in Songs of the Wanderers, the works of Mr. Lin Hwai-min. Mr. Lin Chia-liang acknowledge Cloud Gate which showed him the world. He thus discovered his inner world. According to two teachers, Mr. Lin Hwai-min was exteremely strict; however, he took care of the dancers’ physical and mental states. Thus, Cloud Gate dancers support each other as a family!

Tsao Wen-chieh is the documentary director of Cloud Gate 30 of Cloud Gate Dance Theatre. Pine Smoke is recently her second documentary for Cloud Gate. Tsao Wen-chieh is currently the full-time director of Cloud Gate Dance Theatre 2 and general manager of PTS. When Tsao Wen-chieh joined in overseas tour with Cloud Gate, once, all members suffered from stomachache. They still performed with the illness. She was impressed by the dedication and solidarity of Cloud Gate!

Liu Chen-hsiang is the photographer of Cloud Gate Dance Theatre and he accomplished many classic works of Cloud Gate. Mr. Lin Hwai-min has said, "Liu Chen-hsiang always protects me as a Buddha by photography at the corner of the stage". Mr. Liu Chen-hsiang said, when Cloud Gate performed in world tour, Mr. Lin Hwai-min always brought his photo of Buddha taken for Cloud Gate in early times. He meditated sometimes for the peace and success of the members. All Mr. Lin Hwai-min concerns about is Cloud Gate Dance Theatre!

Role of Ambassador:

From the foundation in 1973 to the present, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre has combined the performance styles of traditional aesthetics, literature and history and stood out in international stage. It was invited by 214 cities from Europe, America, Asia and Australia, including 2432 performances. It was praised by The Times Newspaper as "the first contemporary dance troupe in Asia". FAZ acknowledged it as "world-class modern dance troupe". In 2019, it obtained "The Stef Stefanou Award for Outstanding Company" of the most important National Dance Awards of international dance circle.

Cloud Gate Dance Theatre combines Asian mythology, folk custom and modern movement and it re-interprets the culture and history of Taiwan. It introduces art performance to the campuses and communities around Taiwan. It is devoted to social concern and support. After natural disasters, it actively participated in tour of public performance for fund raising to reconstruct the disaster areas and society. Cloud Gate creates the dance which depicts the Taiwanese's unique experience in Chinese and Asian stories. With the guidance of Mr. Lin Hwai-min, it creates internationally well-known style of Cloud Gate.

Contribution to the Local:

Cloud Gate Dance Theatre is acknowledged by the audiences and dance critics around the world through unique originality and impressive dance. It becomes one of the most important cultural assets of Taiwan. "Cloud Gate Theater" founded by the directorate of Cloud Gate is a platform which integrates national and foreign artists' creation, performance and cross-field exchange. In addition, by art activities, it enhances community cultural life and becomes the green park shared by all people.

Art can purify and touch people. In every summer, Mr. Lin Hwai-min guides the dancers to hold large-scale outdoor performances in different cities of Taiwan. Thousands of audiences sit on the ground properly. Cloud Gate allows common people to appreciate world-class performances without paying the tickets to the theater.

Performance of an art performance troupe can not only purify but also change people. At the 25th anniversary, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre founded Cloud Gate Dance School. From 3 to 88 years old, every week, more than ten thousand families enjoy the physical rhythm in Cloud Gate Dance School and they learn to listen to the voice of bodies and freely have dialogues with themselves. Cloud Gate Dance Theatre expects everyone to perceive and learn by physical rhythm. Children's world will be healthier and wider and everyone can experience health, well-being and growth.

Discoveries, Lessons and Surprises:

In this CyberFair project, Cloud Gate Dance Theatre encounters the turning point. Mr. Lin Hwai-min will be retiring and Mr. Cheng Tsung-lung will succeed the position. Cloud Gate will draw the attention again. In the study, we first thoroughly introduced Cloud Gate and different styles of dance. Subsequently, through real activity experience and promotion, the members and more people further approached Cloud Gate. After collecting data, we interviewed Mr. Lin Hwai-min, dancers and related personnel to discover the underlying Cloud Gate.

Cloud Gate Dance Theatre combines western and eastern dance. Based on history and culture, it constantly explores the possibility of Chinese culture and self-identification of Taiwan. Thus, Cloud Gate introduces the culture of Taiwan to the world. In addition, they approach the countryside to allow more Taiwanese people to watch their performance. Noticeably, Cloud Gate has been persistent for 40 years. In addition, they stimulate people's national value by dance and enhance the sense of belonging. Their contribution to the society or individuals is significant.

After the research, we considered "solidarity" and "constant improvement" as the most appropriate terms to describe Cloud Gate. By "solidarity", they accomplished all performances and fulfilled the impressive movements by powerful coherence. In addition, through "constant improvement", they attempted to break through themselves. We thus learned "the force of solidarity" and "all efforts". When we cooperate with others and do our best, regardless of the result, we will obtain the experiences and make constant progress.
