The Dusk of Pen Industry
★Questionnaire Survey and Analysis
We sent email questionnaires through the online platform Google Forms to collect people’s opinions about Small and Medium Enterprises, the “sunset” industries, and their habits of using pen. We received a total of 149 effective responses as a result. What follows is our result report and analysis:
Surprisingly, most people still rely on pens in their daily lives. In the survey about people’s habit of using pens, over 40 percent of the surveyed people use pen more than an hour per day, and nearly 70 percent tend to choose pens rather than computers for note-taking. Also, over 90 percent of the surveyed people prefer to use ballpoint, and nearly 80 percent of them use it to take notes.
More than 75 percent of responses show that, people are not interested in taking over a company, yet they still have hope to “sunset” industries’ future. Only 38.9 percent of the people have absolute acceptance on taking over a company; acceptances with conditions took a major part of 52.3 percent. Most people have a positive belief in the future of Small and Medium Enterprises, such as PEN.MECH in Taiwan. Over 75 percent of the surveyed people think pens would always be attractive and the pen industry will never fall. The same percentage of surveyed people also agree that, though manufacturers of those “sunset” industries in Taiwan is in a severe situation now, they still have chance to change the status quo.
