Because of the good relationship between the principal and the community, it went very smoothly when we called the Director-General and Division Chief of Ershui Farmers’ Association to make appointment for interview. After setting up the appointment time with two elders, we prepared a camcorder, camera, and recorder pen, and typed our interview questions according to the previous experience.

We interviewed the Division Chief Mr. Tung first and asked him questions about the planting method and process of Ershui Mesona, such as the sowing time and harvest time, best environment and climate growing Ershui Mesona, and pests and details to be noticed during the planting time.

Mr. Tung clearly answered our questions and told us the following information:

 (1) Mesona fields must be well drained.

 (2) Mesona is an edible plant. Pesticides and chemical fertilizers cannot be applied on it.

 (3) Mesona must be completely harvested before blossom.

Our experience agrees with the collected information, which makes us feel successful!

Next, we asked Director-General Mr. Tsai about seed selection and contract farming of Ershui Mesona. Our questions include why Taisun Enterprise chose Ershui, how the contracted Mesona is processed, what Mesona products are created, etc. Mr. Tsai answered all our questions. It was the first time we heard the new terms like Taisun No.1, Taisun No.2, and Taisun No.3., so we were very curious and wanted to ask the differences among them.

Since the contract company provided the seeds, Mr. Tsai and Mr. Tung couldn’t tell us the details. Maybe we can ask Taisun Enterprise, the contract company, in the future.
