The cultural DNA of Ershui Mesona: Food safety, soil protection, andfarmer care

Through the assistance of Ershui Farmers’ Association, the contract company started their Mesona farming fields adopting plan in 2013 for natural planting. They first adopted 0.09 acre land for testing planting in 2013, further adopted 5 acre land in 2014, and then 30 acre land in 2015 for Mesona contracted production farming fields. The enterprises insist on “no pesticide” and “environmental friendly” planting. They believe that Ershui Township locates at a place of water origin and end of wind, so the rich mineral substance from Zhuoshui River has bred fertile soil. This matches up the easy-planting characteristic of Mesona, so they ask farmers to do weed control only, and sell the pure materials from natural herb to the contract company.

With the assistance of local businesses, Ershui Farmers’ Association helps sell Mesona gift boxes. The cylinder shape cans hold highly purified Mesona mass, and are different from the square shape ones sold in the market. Consumers are surprised when they open the cans. The taste is soft, firm and chewy, so the buy-back rate is pretty high.
