Changhua Raoping Hakka Junior Corps Member Introduction
I’m glad to be part of the Corps and work closely with Mrs. Qiu. She successfully brings Chuanghua Raoping Hakka back into our daily life. Also, in the past six months, I had received 56 activity posts from our Chuang Rao Hakka Line group. I really enjoyed going to schools, communities, Yongjing, Yuanlin, Puxin, Zhuolan and Hsinchu with Mrs. Qiu and learning while doing interviews. Mrs. Qiu always taught us how to speak Raoping Hakka whenever she could, and she would also post the content on Line for us. It was truly unforgettable. Now Mrs. Qiu’s Raoping Hakka revival website is available, I’m proud of her. Thanks Mrs. Qiu for guiding me and helping me pass the Hakka test, also win Excellent Prize for the National Hakka Contest. In short, I learned a lot from this activity, which makes me more sensible and takes me to a higher level.
I have been speaking good Chinese and Taiwanese since I was little, and as a result my family expected me to learn more languages, so I went to Mrs. Qiu’s Raoping Hakka Family Class with my granny two years ago. Not until then did I find myself a Raoping Hakka. It was just the fact that drove me to help revive the language. Now I’m still learning Raoping Hakka with Mrs. Qiu. I have passed the Hakka Test and ranked second for the Hakka Speech Contest. I also have performed many many times in classes and communities, also told the elders how to speak Raoping Hakka. It’s something. The most important thing is, under the guidance of Mrs. Qiu, we junior corps spent 6 months making the website and it is finished! It is going to be great to let people see Mrs. Qiu’s hard work on reviving Raoping Hakka home and aboard
I have learned a lot ever since being part of the junior corps. Some members are really good at Raoping Hakka, and I later learned that they all learned the language with Mrs. Qiu after school and a lot of them won several prizes. All thanks to Mrs. Qiu, who successfully revives Chuanghua Raoping Hakka. I want to learn with Mrs. Qiu whenever there is a chance, so that I can reach my dream as her. Thank you Mrs. Qiu for taking me to the beautiful field of Raoping Hakka. It is really amazing!
Father said there is a legit Hakka in my family and that is my grandmother. As soon as I learned the school was going to gruop junior corps to study and work with Mrs. Qiu, the lady that successfully revives Changhua Raoping Hakka, I told my family the news and got enormous encouragement from them. And so, I was lucky to be one of the corps. In just a short semester, I went to a lot of Chuang Rao Hakka events and journalists often came and interviewed Mrs. Qiu as well as our junior corps’ family activities. That’s interesting. Junior corps also visited Mrs. Qiu’s working studio and the old Yongjing Loyal House. Thank you Mrs. Qiu for your guidance; I learned the beauty of Chunaghua Hakka culture and the language.
It’s a new experience to be part of the Changhua Raoping Hakka Junior Corps. I was so curious about this language and I found it beautiful while learning speaking it with Mrs. Qiu. Visiting Mrs. Qiu’s old house and her working studio is amazing too. I realize that language will disappear if you don’t speak it, just like “use it, or lose it”. To revive a language needs hard work like Mrs. Qiu has been doing, so we have to cherish the language. I hope by doing this project and study Mrs. Qiu’s efforts can let more people know about the beauty of Chuanghua Raoping Hakka, and experience its beautiful culture.
I’m really glad that I have the opportunity to be one of the corps and work with my idol Mrs. Qiu on reviving Chuanghua Raoping Hakka. All that is profound and meaningful. I remember going to Hsinchu, Miaoli and Yongjing with Mrs. Qiu for field trips, and I also recall she guided me how to speak Raoping Hakka and performed at Yuanlin Performance Hall for Art Expo. The six-month experience taught me that: It is like a magic that Mrs. Qiu’s efforts on reviving Raoping Hakka can be so successful! There are 400 thousand Hakkas in Changhua County and few of them speak Hakka. Many of them even don’t know they are Hakka. Last month, I especially asked my father, checked our family history book “The Xiao Genealogy”, and finally found out that I am a Hakka too. Thank you Mrs. Qiu. Because of you, I seek my own root and know who I am. I will always remember ancestors’ legacies as well. I’m proud of Mrs. Qiu, the lady that initiated the revival of Chuanghua Raoping Hakka.
Me and my dad have gone to Mrs. Qiu’s Summer Raoping Hakka Class for families and learned that we are Raoping Hakka too. Six months ago, I happily joined Chang Rao Hakka Junior Corps and under the teacher’s guidance, we often went with Mrs. Qiu’s reviving schedule, which is very profound. I and some other corps registered the National Raoping Hakka Speech Contest under Mrs. Qiu’s patient guiding and encouraging, and we had good results on that! That was really great. Mrs. Qiu is awesome; I’m intrigued to learn more. I will keep promoting Raoping Hakka and become one of the Chuang Rao Hakka youth group.
Being one of the Chang Rao Junior Corps is the best thing this year. Ten team members worked together to documentary how Mrs. Qiu revived the language. During the six months, I found it interesting following Mrs. Qiu’a pace and learned that my family is also Raoping Hakka. Looking at the prizes and certificates relevant to Raoping Hakka on the wall, I suddenly realized my courage, Hakka skills, writing, photo-taking and interviewing abilities have improved a lot. I’m grateful for that. Thanks all the teachers and those who helped with the interviews, and thank you Mrs. Qiu, the best Hakka teacher of Changhua Country. It is really nice to have her, who revives Changhua Raoping Hakka after its absence for 50 years.
I have been learning Hakka from Mrs. Qiu ever since 2014. She is the most interesting, most talent language teacher I have ever met. Though my family is Hakka but they didn’t know how to speak the language. My mother and I learned from Mrs. Qiu, and we passed six Hakka accent tests. Not only that, I also won excellent prize for the National Raoping Hakka Speech Contest. My achievements have everything to do with Mrs. Qiu’s hard work on reviving the language. We junior corps only documentary some of Mrs. Qiu’s efforts, you are more than welcome to come to Changhua and speak Raoping Hakka!
I always hear the prize winning news for Raoping Hakka class in school. Not only when I joined Mrs. Qiu’s Hakka reviving work did I know this is really something. It is interesting to go see how Mrs. Qiu teaches classes. I have to thank Mrs. Qiu’s guidance and I want to say to her that “You are like the strength to make dessert sprout some green. I’m very proud of you!”
