As Changhua Raoping Hakka Junior Corp was formed, the first thing the members agreed upon doing was to take down the main character –Meidu Qiu’s feat upon Raoping Hakka revival. Mrs. Qiu was very happy to help us accomplish the mission. She hoped the Corp could learn to build team spirit because learning from cooperating in recording information is the most valuable lesson learnt. Pretty soon, Mrs. Qiu connected Hakka with natural resources, announcing that at midday on October 23rd, there was an activity –Learn Solar Energy in Raoping Hakka in the conference room in Jingye Building, and every member of Raoping Hakka Junior Corp and Hakka Parent-Child class were invited to attend, which made us so excited and we were looking forward to it.

On that day, 40 students occupied the conference room. Our principal and Mrs. Qiu led a professor from Da Yeh University –Yongzong Chen –in the room. It was the first time we saw the combination of the sensitive Hakka and the rational solar energy. It was something fresh to us. Mrs. Qiu taught us how to greet in Raoping Hakka, and everyone welcomed Professor Chen in Hakka. With the guidance of Mrs. Qiu, Professor Chen greeted in Hakka for the first time, saying “Hello everyone. I am Yongzong Chen” It was so interesting to see people greeted in Hakka.

Then Professor Chen used a big poster of words and pictures and an assembled solar powered vehicle to lecture. During the speech halftime, everyone repeated after Mrs. Qiu with words like “photoelectric, solar powered vehicle, environmental friendly” in Hakka. At the end of the speech, we thanked him in Hakka and he replied “Thank you all.” in Hakka, as well. Everyone gave him a round of applause. The Corp members Yafang Xiao, Chengye Yang, Lizhuo Fan and Ruixuan Jiang, like little reporters, eagerly raised questions. Professor Chen kindly explained and answered their questions, and he solved their puzzles right away. At last, Ruixuan Jiang raised another question, “How to start solar powered car?” Professor Chen then pointed a light at the vehicle, and in less than one minute, the car started to move. That was really eye-opening. We took a picture together when the speech was over and we thanked Professor Chen again in Hakka. We even got models of solar powered vehicles as gifts! It was really a nice experience to learn Hakka and fuse it in life. Mrs. Qiu is great!
