After deciding on research topic, we contacted Sheng Tai Brassware Corporation inquiring for the visit. Luckily ST agreed to our request, we immediately began planning the visit, setting up outlines, Q&A, visiting dates, etc.

      By using Google cloud collaboration, we drew up visiting outlines together,
      as follows:
      1、To understand the history and philosophy of Sheng Tai.
      2、To know about its company characteristics and patented products.
      3、To understand quality control strategy and witness the process.
      4、The value of environmental protection and its realization.
      5、To know about certifications of its techniques and ISO quality control. Asking ST’s
            permission for scanning or photographing the certificates.
      6、Student’s questions, company’s replies.
      7、Apply the license for using their websites, promoting DVDs, photos and other information
            data.
      8、Give appreciation certificate and take photos.
      9、Inform them the name of website: “Boss of Faucet” Justime ~ Sheng Tai JuSTime. Because Sheng Tai began with faucet and became
           famous for. Not only did they continuously pursuing innovation and expanding its brassware products, also focus on quality and
           environmental protection. 
      10、Also the name of the team: “Faucet Little Soldiers” starts with faucet, and then adds a bit fun side to it.

     Teachers brought our visit outlines to discuss with Sheng Tai about the visiting details.
  1. Setting up visit date and time: January 7th, 2015, 1:30~5:00 pm.
  2. Help in-school learning activities, such as exhibition booth and little designers.

Q：What did the founder have in mind when he built the
      company ?
  • A：The founder didn’t have much education back in the old days, usually the riches did. Therefore, he tried to get a job before enlisting in the army, earning the paycheck by himself for better life.
Q：When is your company established ?
  • A：Sheng Tai is established in 1976, dedicating to manufacture brassware products. We have extraordinary production power with 36 years experiences.
Q：Is current president the first successor？
  • A：Yes, they also have different personalities. First president had lots of business drinking in order to bring some clients. The successor mostly did some presentations and speeches. Age differences contribute to distinctive methods, as they are about 10 years apart.
Q：What countries do you sell your products to ?
  • A：We have international markets all over the world, including Europe, Japan, USA & Canada, Middle East and Asia.
Q：How to test the quality of your products ?
  • A：We have water spout test, valve test, salt spray test, etc.
Ｑ：Are these tests manual or automatic ?
  • Ａ：Thanks to modern technology, we mostly use machines to test our products.
Q：What’s the first product to win an award？
  • A：Story Series，due to its unique shape, we are able to trace back to the beginning and try to find out the original beauty. Plus the handy spray warms our heart.
Q：What is the direction of your future product designs？
  • A：Classical design.
Q：Which machine or production process is more dangerous?
       Any precautionary measures ?
  • A：Only careless and lazy people get injured. Otherwise, cautious workers pay attentions to their jobs. We also ask our machining crew not to wear gloves while operating machines, in case they get caught up in the machines with their hands and gloves.
Q：Do you put more focus on handiness or appearance while
       designing? Why?
  • A：For designers, style comes first, but they also take convenience into consideration.
Q：We are very curious, where did designers get their
       inspirations? For so many spectacular products?
  • A：Observe more, think more. You will start to have many materials, not necessarily all about faucets. After some doodling, the design will begin to take shape.
Q：Can you tell us how to sell your faucets ?
  • A：We have sales departments both in Changhua and Taichung.
Q：If we want to buy these products, where to？
  • A：There are retailers everywhere, but in Changhua you can just come to Sheng Tai headquarter.
Q：What are your current goals？
  • A：Beat TOTO to become number one in Taiwan.
Q：Do you have employee benefits committee？
  • A：Yes, it’s required by law.
Q：Do you have company trips？
  • A：In recent years, we rarely organized company trips due to heavy workloads. We have annual bonus or coupons instead, the staff also prefer this way.
Q：Bonus system？
  • A：Not very thorough unfortunately.
Q：Any charities or community activities？
  • A：We sponsors work for charity event organized by Taichung city government!
Ｑ：What is the best selling product ?
  • Ａ：Bilge plug, ten million units a month.
Ｑ：Do you have any products for elderly people ?
  • Ａ：Yes, for example, grab bars, non-slips, thermostatic mixers.​
Q：What is OEM and ODM？
  • A：
    ​OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) is a company whose products are used as components in another company’s end products.
    ODM (Own Designing & Manufacturing) not only manufactures but also creates the overall designs and specifications of products.
Q：How do you manage your waste ?
  • A：We recycle the reusable parts.
    We collect toxic wastes in the storage, and then waste disposal company will handle the process, following the green environment spirits.
