How did “Dingfanpo” get its name?
It is not that older ladies here are bad-tempered, but because in earlier days Taiwan aborigines lived in northern Changhua area, including Lukang, Hemei and Xianxi.
From the plumbing industry in the 30s, faucets and valves in the 40s, all the way to heyday in the 50s, hundreds of plumbing factories situated in this area.
According to the estimates by Ministry of Economic Affairs, faucet industry in Taiwan is worth more than 60 billion dollars. Over 80 percent of the industry is located in Dingfanpo area, developing into an important industry cluster. Half of faucets in the world come from Dingfanpo which naturally is called “the birthplace of faucet.”
