It is the club time of our school in the afternoon of each Wednesday. We have joined the club of puppetry. This semester, Mr. Shang-yan Hsiao is employed to act as our tutor to teach us the related knowledge of puppetry as well as the skills to operate the puppets.
In our opinion, puppetry is very interesting. The teacher provides us with different puppets, costumes and props to learn as well as the plays the teacher wrote to practice. Our play tells a story of the Three Kingdoms, and we will perform it in public in our school to show our results at the end of this semester. By the time, the residents nearby will come to watch our performance and our family members will also come to support us. Therefore, we try our best to practice. We are nervous in the beginning, but become familiar with it after rehearsing for times.
In the course of learning, we have encountered some difficulties. For example, we were not familiar with the operation skills, and some students couldn’t speak Taiwanese language smoothly, so that they often forgot their lines. “We still need time to learn and should make great efforts, those who are good at operating the puppets have trained for long time,” our teacher told us. In addition, one student almost couldn’t speak Taiwanese language, and our teacher just allowed this student to perform in mandarin.
Mr. Hsiao guides us how to operate the puppets earnestly. | Mr. Hsiao has made the plays suitable to us elaborately. |
