Project guide l Catalogue we were in: Local specialties,Sports,Health. l Introduction of the local community: Our school, Jing Yi elementary
school is located in Nei-Men, which is a country sides place in Kaohsiung city.
Therefore, people here are simplicity. We have developed education
network by limit resource and exporters from local. It can broaden the
school lesson and the student’s horizon. Our community has a lot of crops
such as longan, litchi and thorny bamboo. School is part of the
community. We should always collaborate with them to glory the local
feature. The local cultures in Nei- Men
are Sung Chiang Battle Array and Dancing Drum Array; Nei-Men are also the
source of well-known occupation Table chiefs. Anthurium is in Nei-Men is become
one of the main incomes of farmers with the increasing of output values.
Beekeeping is very popular in Nei-Men therefore honey is also a specialty here l Project plan summary: 1. The main industries are
agriculture in Neimen District. Because the land is barren, it is not conducive
to the development of food crops. Part of area has planted high economic
flowers in transition. In these agricultural products, there is a special agricultural
product called magical manioc. After our investigation, we found that magical
manioc was the herbal treatment of snakebites by ancestors in Neimen. Under farmers
determined planted, we could continue magical manioc’s cultivation and product
development. However, fewer and fewer people plant it,and its prices are
declining. So we discovered and investigated magical story of magical manioc,
and we also introduced its products completely and detailed. This is the best
moment that our research team caring for this land. 2. We also want to
record the process of magical manioc development in Neimen and the magical effects
of these products. These questions are handed over to us to solve. 3. Our internet environment:We have a computer
classroom in school and there are about 16 computers. Students are free to use
them during the break time and connect the world via the internet provided by
school. The internet signal is stable and school provides enough space for us
to use. It also helps a lot during the winter break because not every of us has
internet at home but even so, there were still a few students using the
internet at home for more detail. l
Difficulties we had gone
through: 1. Time pressure: We have many activities at school and for joining
this project, we used the break time to surf the net and looked for more detail
in the library and also to share, discuss, upload, have meeting, assign the
jobs, contact the interviewees and interview. Furthermore, we needed to arrange
the pictures and notes we had, correct the documents as well as making the
website. For finishing all these jobs, we needed to spend our time well and
it’s great that everybody worked so hard so we could go through all of these
difficulties.。 2. Experience and tacit understanding: Group of The magical
manioc was
formed by grade six students. We didn’t have any experience doing this but our
team had conquered all the difficulties with teacher’s experience, learnt
knowledge and tacit understanding in between us as well as the determination we
had made to do this project. 3. Lack of professional knowledge: Before we joined this project, we
had read many books and browsed many websites, but because of our age and
limited knowledge, we still needed more detail although we had checked and
checked the database on the internet. Therefore, we asked our teachers and also
interviewed a few great chefs in Nei Men Township for getting better and
clearer ideas. 4. Contact and interview: To have a better idea of the project, we were
zealous for contacting each planter by phone and also the volunteer mothers put
a lot of work on it but because of the busy schedule, most of the interviewees
couldn’t promise. Here we want to thank each one who had helped us and
therefore, we can’t treat it lightly. 5. For the website making: We did spend a lot of time deciding the
structure and toolbar for a better link and interface. We discussed each
question, tested every color on words, designed different kinds of bottoms and
backgrounds etc…. We went through many problems especially using the software;
we did have a hard time on it. Thanks for teacher’s help and finally we did get
it done and had an outstanding website. l Reflection: We want research local specailty by this project. Let our students learn
knowledge of local human culture in the process of visiting local specialty. From
the community elders oral, we uncover the magical manioc history of the
development and planting process. We also understand the product development
process and application of magical manioc. From our research of magical manioc,
we understand the relationship between magical manioc and Neimen. We expect magical
manioc products can be carried forward and continue. |
