Chronicle of the Aquatic Pools

Tung-Shin Elementary School was under construction in 1998 and began to enroll students in 2000. From the very beginning, the school set aside an area of lowland as the wetland ecosystem zone. However, there were issues like the invasion of alien species, overgrowth of weeds, and the lack of proper management. Each principal spent time and effort in improving the area to make it a good educational and recreational place. So far the exterior is about completely renovated. More efforts are needed to improve the ecosystem of the aquatic creatures. Now, join us to see the evolution of Tung-Shin Elementary School’s aquatic pools.

After Dark Aquatic Pool Exploration

Ecological exploration at night is an event that we very much looked forward to have. The teachers began to design the content of our main program since the fifth grade. Since we have aquatic pools on campus, the teachers invited Dong-Hua University’s amphibian research group to organize two explorations. Besides other lectures during daytime, the teachers invited the production team of PTV ‘s program, Our Island, to teach us the filming of ecological documentary. Aquatic Plants

There are three aquatic areas in Tung-Shin Elementary School, which include the Octagonal Pavilion pond, the waste water filtration pond and the great ecological pool. In the last few years, school teachers, staff member Liu Ruize uncle, and many students put in a lot of efforts to clean up and plant many different types of aquatic plants. Aquatic Plants eBook

Tung-Shin Elementary School has plenty of aquatic plants. Under the guidance of teacher Limin, we used a new technology, an ebook designed by him, to edit the webpage. We learned to use an editor, PSPad, to create the ebook. There are four different types of aquatic plants, i.e., fully submerged (Elodeid), adrifting (Nymphaeids), floating (Helophytes) and submersible (Amphiphytes). Therefore, we divided the work to complete the four ebooks.
