Situated right next to Red Leaf Hotel, Wu Clan Ancestral Hall (see map 
) is the best preserved ancestral hall of the Chang-leh community. The progenitor of this lineage, Bi Wu, was an imperial scholar during Emperor Qianlong’s reign, and, as per the customs of the time, not only was he given a considerable amount of land, various members of his clan were also thanks to him able to hold governmental positions. Because of this, the Hall is decorated with numerous plaques awarded by the Qing government.
Currently, decorated above the front entrance of the Hall are two plaques, one which says “perseverant piety,” awarded to Ba-ying Wu, the 18th clan head who was renowned for his piety, and another which says “選元 (pronounced shuan-yuan),” which is an elegant alternative title referring to the rank of second-degree scholar of the Qing Dynasty.
