Description of "Our Community" |
Tien Cheng Elementary School is located in Puyan Township, Changhua County, famously known as the “hometown of vegetables” and “hometown of sweet rice”. A-zen’s Steamed Pork Buns, located in Lukang Township, Changhua County, is a well-known local traditional bakery. Its owner, with constant innovation and ingenuity, adds Chinese and Western elements to the ancestral bakery to create many new products, and insists on selling products made of fresh, safe, and healthy ingredients to consumers. In a time where food safety problems are a social concern, the owner’s insistence is valued. |
Summary of Our Project |
The project studies the business philosophy, developing history, product development, and marketing channels of A-zen’s Steamed Pork Buns. Through visiting the store, interviewing the owner, collecting data, organizing information, and attending many activities, the project learns about the business philosophy of A-zen’s Steamed Pork Buns. The project also designs questionnaires to see what consumers think and suggest to A-zen’s Steamed Pork Buns. Finally, the members of the project and the owner of A-zen’s Steamed Pork Buns work together to send love to the corners of society with the steamed buns. |

Problems We Had To Overcome |
Since this was the first time for students to proceed in PBL (Problem-Based Learning), the first difficulty we encountered was how to assertively teach students to get familiar with the skills and atmosphere of data collection and group discussion. Fortunately, under the instruction and demonstration of teachers, students gradually got ahold of the skills of Internet searching and data analysis. At the same time, with the brainstorming atmosphere supported and guided by instructors, the students found the answers for the problems, one after another. It was also difficult for a research team to teach student to design questionnaires. Because students lack investigative and research experiences, and we were limited by time, we tried to guide and teach students by showing them other questionnaire samples. Then we let them discuss to decide the infrastructure, style, and content of the questionnaires together. |
Afterthoughts |
With “insistence, conscience, and innovation”, A-zen’s Steamed Pork Buns makes traditional gourmet food flourish; with healthy ingredients, excellent skills, and delicious taste, it has earned a reputation in Japan. In this Cyberfair project, we, The Gourmet Team of Steamed Buns, deeply understand “Vision without action is only a daydream” from our actions of discussing a topic, planning for research, collecting data, organizing documents, counting for survey results, and making the website. The advertisement of a well-known sports brand, “Just do it”, explains what we feel! |
