Mr. Lai business ran so well that the designers in his salon could receive an annual 400,000 to 500,000 NTD payment (The average payment is 4000 NTD per month). However, the assistant stylist in the same salon could only gain a lower than average salary.  So he made a big alternation of the salary system which including the assistants into the profits distribution. Nevertheless, the situation turned out to be a misunderstanding of the designers and then they made a strike for a joint resigns. Just over one night, Hsiao-Yi lost all his co-designers, but this did not defeat him, because he believed that he was doing the right thing. Even though there was a lack of designers in the salon, the rest of the employees supported him by serving the customers with more passion and hospitality. It turned out to be a win-win situation for more customers and better profits for the designers and the whole crew.

Accident

At the end of 1987, Hsiao-Yi had a terrible accident, and fortunately he escaped the death. After that he had a perspective of life. Because at that night, he was all worn out from his works and accidently bumped into another garbage truck near the sideway, and he was seriously injured. After he recovered from his injuries, he wanted his chain stores to be more independent, so the business could run perfectly even it lost a key role in the crew.

Someone sat fire to Mentor

However right after the refurbishment, someone sat fire to the store, and burnt everything including the confidence of the staff. Hsiao-Yi again was not depressed by the sudden lost, on the other hand, he restlessly sat out for seeking a new place for rebuilding, and the very act inspired his crew to unit together.
